You know this sounds VERY FAMILIAR:

When asked whether the PSP will be priced higher than the Nintendo DS--which Nintendo today announced would sell for 15,000 yen ($149)--Kutaragi declined to comment, but stressed that SCE's handheld will still sell well if it's more expensive than the DS, since the systems are positioned differently and won't be competing directly in price. Kutaragi said that he sees the DS as a new GBA model, while on the other hand he sees the PSP as a totally new handheld with next-generation specs.

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

I will say this, at least they isn't a bashing PR statement for once. More like we are two different products piece. With that said, does that mean both 3DS and NGP control 100% of the market they are in! :P

PS: Yes I am ignoring his statement on 3DS being a DS, while he is ignoring that NGP is a PSP....

"Lots of choices we made were so different from their choices. It's kind of hard to compare the two [3DS and NGP], aside from the fact that both of them are dedicated gaming platforms."

Umm... isn't this exactly what makes them clear competitors?

ROFL this is hilarious.

EDIT: Personally, I can see why they would say that the 3DS is an updated DS (even though I disagree with them). DS is definately not an updated GBA, though.

So its not a handheld then? Is it a gaming tablet? LOL

Ah, the wonders of Public 'Relations'.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

How is the NGP or Vita not just an updated PSP?

i agree that the 3ds is an updated ds, but the ngp is an updated psp

Exactly.

Ah Sony, back to their same old tried and tested bullshit of downplaying the market, and then consecutively getting their candy arses whooped in the sales department. When will they ever learn *sigh*

Their tone is similar to the tone they took in the DS vs PSP fight, or with PS3 vs whatever else, which doesn't bode well for them creating something market-friendly

Which means we know how this'll turn out. Honestly, Sony execs have learned NOTHING from their previous beatdowns. Goes to show how much they're NOT a game company

This is what I thought, a company which doesn't understand the reason why the lost their crown was because of their arrogance doesn't deserve to win. And they won't, Nintendo created a too costly and powerful platform, which is the main reason why it'll struggle to reach GB/DS numbers, but Sony is going again the wrong route. Sure, gamers will be happy, but this is not how you win a gen, 7 gens teach something...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Isn't this just another words for: We don't have any idea how to market this thing to any audience...

That was definitely a poorly worded sentence for public relations purposes

"Buy our new product! It can't fit in your pocket and you can't make phone calls on it, but buy it anyway!"

While i understand that they're trying to differentiate it from smartphones, the key is to emphasize what makes it better than a cell phone, not what makes it worse...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
