Navi more annoying in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

May 27th, 2011 Posted in 3DS, News, Posted by Valay

As indicated in our Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D review summary from Nintendo Power, the magazine didn’t sound too happy with Navi. That’s understandable, as the fairy had a reputation of being a bother in the original game due to her constant chants of “hey, listen” and “watch out” (just a few examples). But according to Nintendo Power, she’s now more annoying than ever.

It sounds like the developers added some additional comments for Navi. Now she’ll often tell you that you should take a break from playing or watch a hint movie (a new feature in the 3DS version).

Nintendo Power explained:

“…There are so many clear improvements in the 3DS release that it’s tough to quibble, but I could do without the extra comments from Link’s fairy companion Navi, whose distracting alerts were already borderline annoying in the original game. While she does sometimes give useful hints, more often then not she interrupts the game to repeatedly suggest that you take a break from playing or go watch a hint movie. Turning to her for advice when I’m hopelessly stuck only to get great tips like ‘Keep Moving!’ or ‘The barrier is blocking the door, there must be some way of opening it’ is like pouring salt into a wound.”

Wouldn't be OoT without her :D

You know what is really annoying? People mentioning that Navi was annoying.

Because in the original OOT, I was never bothered a single time by the presence of Navi. Out of all the things that game did properly, that is probably the only vaguely questionable thing that gamers can come up with that was oh-so-wrong with the game.

Navi says 2 words an hour and it annoys you, yet you can withstand hours of cutscene tripe in those Kojima games?

GTFOH

As you said. Navi is questionable and stand out like a thorn. You have the rest of the game that does everything right to blame.

Granted helpers like that have become more annoying in games in general since 1998, so Navi was bound to catch the disease this time around, though you'd figure they could afford to tone her down since they have the Sheikah-Stone Superguide

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

To quote me from GoNintendo:

"Tatl is far more annoying than Navi. At least Navi gave you (basic) advice on how to beat a boss. Tatl just said, go play Ocarina of Time and you will know how to beat this boss. Stupid c***."

I love how they say "she interrupts the game" as if you had no choice than to listen to her. If you don't want to be "interrupted", then don't press the up arrow, idiot!

Maybe it's just me and a few ohers, but I was never bothered or annoyed by Navi.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

The only helper I was ever annoyed by was Midna at very select parts, but otherwise I've never had issues with them in Zelda games.

Ezlo would have to be my favorite though. I actually liked listening to him because he had a cool personality and had interesting words to say, even if they were obvious.

I also really liked Tatl and the KoRL. *shrugs*

Dunno what you mean by Tripe as the Kojima games tend to have very good stories along with excellent gameplay. MGS4 was a game made for the fans, not just some random people who picked up MGS 3 or even 2. I played original NES Metal Gear so I appreciated the entire story including in SNES MGS: Solid Snake and PS1 MGS, etc,etc so they are not tripe and do what they set out to do and in the end offered closure. Zone of the Enders also a Kojima game had cutscenes along with amazing gameplay and good story and ZOE 2 improved upon that. Furthermore you were able to skip cutscenes in MSG4 so how about trying that? Now with your derailing I got derailed

OT: I did find Navi annoying but I dealt with it. For the record I do think OOT was overrated but then again I was more of a Majora's Mask fan because THAT Zelda did truly something different for the series and excelled at it, just the same as A Link to the Past did.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
