I think that X, X-2 and XII would also be on the PS3 since XIII sold a lot more on the PS3. Anyway if only half of it would be true it would be a good reason to buy a 3DS.

Oh, so game X is better than game Y because it has more features? |
As I said, it is subjective in everything apart from the above 4 points. Each FF game is too different to compare. That's why I'm going solely on the technical proficiency of the gameplay systems. The following are technical points about game design and programming that FF12 has while FF13 does not:
- Deeply Customizable AI.
- Completely seamless battles.
- Player can still move around the party leader when in battle.
- Player can issue commands for all party members and therefore control all party members in battle.
- Loads of towns, 300 NPCs in the whole game to talk to, and loads of huge maps to explore.
Seriously, FF12 is the technically better game from a game design and programming stand point. There's no getting around that. Wal Mart is a much better supermarket to buy from than a corner shop due to the amount of "features" it offers. In the same way, FF12 is a better in gameplay experience than FF13 as it offers far more gameplay "features" for the player. Whether you like these more features or not is what's subjective. You may still prefer to buy from the corner shop as it's local and your friends with the owner. You may prefer FF13 to FF12 as you didn't like the gameplay in FF12 and clicked with the gameplay in FF13 more. However, all that shit doesn't change the fact that FF12 has more features and a much more technically proficient gameplay system.
In response to what Galvaniser is saying, my opinion is:
- according to interviews with Kitase and Toriyama, FF13 was not meant to be an RPG experience, but something a lot closer to Modern Warfare 2 and other FPS. it was designed to bring in new fans into the series and forgo the traditions of the past.
- imo, FF12 is an extremely dense RPG experience, in fact it is too dense and suffers from balance problems for the first half of the game.
- this is because FF12 features, immense cities and towns, featuring tons of NPCs, some side quests (not enough in the towns), dozens of shops. FF13 has no towns in a conventional RPG sense, and features only a few NPCs, you cant revist previous locations.
- FF12 features enormous exploration, and customisation. the game lives through the exploration of non-linear based environments. there is a lot of replay value in discovering the whole map, obtaining treasures, and chaining enemies together for better item drops.
- theres also monster hunting. in FF13 we have go to point A, fight mark X, repeat 70 times for a trophy. in FF12 the hunts actually mean something and they ultimately lead to hunting the ultimate mark. the hunts are linked to the environments you fight them. you dont just go to pont A to fight person X, you have to meet certain conditions - you complete side quest to trigger the hunt to appear. so each of the elite marks are different encounters, linked to the mythology of the environments you fight them in. the hunts in FF12 yield great rewards, where as in FF13, we get items we cant customise because we never have enough gil, and i dont think you get gil from hunts.
so much more we could say about the story and characters, but Galvaniser has pretty much said the same thing. my point is whether FF13 is a good game or not; as an RPG FF12 trumps it in every department. and my biggest concern was whether FF13 was even designed to be an RPG experience or an interactive movie based experience, with scripted battles prompting you to press X when your told to do so.

Couldn't have said it better.

So you think it's the other way around? |
I generally prefer having more features but despite that, I preferred the battles system of FFXIII over that of FFXII's. I'm sure I'm not the only one either so it's pretty bad to call it a fact that FFXII's battle system is better. Personally I thought it (FFXII) was pretty fun at first but it got very boring in the end because there wasn't much for me to actually do because this customizable AI handled almost everything for me.

If FF8 is a masterpiece, I'd rather be a poo puddle.

You should have played it with Gambits off the party leader. That's how I play it as I hate Gambits on everyone as it makes the game play itself. Gambits off the party leader would have made it play like Kingdom Hearts but just slower, without jumping, and not fully real-time.
In terms of intricate gameplay system, customization of AI, amount of spells, abilities and weapons, and sheer size of world and amount of varied enemies in it:
FF12 battle system with Gambits off the party leader > FF13 battle system.
as long as they leave out FFX-2 and FFXII, and any of that western developed stuff they own, i am perfectly happy with what they could release.

Sucks to be you.
I'd buy a localized FF12 International on the first day it's on PSN.

I'll take 'What is Paradigm Shifts'?
