Just ignore him. FF12 is the best 3D FF ever made.

It is, though.

Unless you think FF13 is better than FF12...

Hella wishful, this thread.

This is SE in question, trump your expectations DOWN.

Indeed. I am expecting it to be a FFXIV/Mindjack bundle.

I honestly didn't get far enough in FFXII to be able to say which is the better game. But FFXIII didn't make me throw down my controller and run as far away as possible, so it has that going for it.

It's more FF12 letting you choose how to play it and FF13 forcing you to play it a certain way. FF12 let you play it in any way you liked. I personally played the whole game with Gambits off my party leader so it sort of played like Kingdom Hearts without jumping. The gameplay felt great this way as I could also edit the AI of the two characters I wasn't controlling. I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the massive towns and vast world with exploration the game offered.

With FF13, you control the party leader at all times but you can't edit the AI of the other two characters. That's a huge step back from FF12 from a game design perspective.

Sorry, but without story being a factor, FF12 has the far better gameplay experience. Story doesn't make a game, gameplay does.

Great minds think alike!

Well, that's entirely subjective. I can't say which one I think has the superior gameplay because, as I said, I quit 12 pretty early on. But for what it's worth, I think 13 had a terrible story.

I agree, it is subjective. Each FF game is too different to compare. That's why I'm going solely on the technical proficiency of the gameply systems. Examples:

1) Gambits in FF12 allow you to customise AI in minute level of detail. FF13 doesn't even have customizable AI.

2) FF12 lets you control all three characters in battle if you want. FF13 doesn't even have this feature in the game.

3) FF12 has seamless battles and you can even move all your characters while in battle. FF13 does not have seamless battles and you can't even move one of your characters in battle.

4) FF12 has vast towns, over 300 NPCs in the entire game, and numerous vast maps to explore. FF13 has one town that is tiny, it has 50 NPCs in the entire game, and only one huge vast map at the end.

The above are all game design points. This is why I say that without story, the gameplay in FF12 is better than FF13. You may not have liked the gameplay, but it was still technically and systematically better than that in FF13.

Other than this, it's all subjective.

Oh, so game X is better than game Y because it has more features?

So you think it's the other way around?

Wow, another remake... Cuz FF I and other FF games weren't remade enough times...
