A lot of those people have also admitted to pressuring themselves into hiding away their true sexuality, mainly due to family or religous reasons and pressure from society. I've been to enough clubs, parties and other random social events to notice that when a dickhead needs to show off his bravado, his going to pick the easiest target and that is usually a homosexual person (people won't help, society still has a negative stereotype on them and their homosexuality is used as a jumping off point for insults).
If your gay, then your still putting up with a lot of bullshit in certain parts of the world. My friend Michael was recently outed by another friend of mine and for me, nothing has changed, but the friend that outed him and another one of my better friends ended up backing away. This is in Melbourne, a city I always thought was progressive and yet I still see or hear about stupid things like this happening every month.
As for the main topic, from what my friend tells me and from what my mums photographer (his also gay) tells me, they believe they are born gay. The photographer (Mark) was open about his homoseuality in his earlier life, but once he hit 30 he tried living a heterosexual lifestyle after a deep depression based around thinking he was never going to have a family or a normal modern life (this guy was loaded by the way and very good looking, shows that money and looks aren't everything). This lead him to actually go on dates with women and just trying to change his lifestyle, but after a couple of years, he just couldn't go through with it. His fine now, has a boyfriend and has bought a house out into the country, but it goes to show you that your sexuality isn't a choice.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
