Please just get rid of them. The benifits don't outway the consequences. I don't want to have to buy 2 sets of each. Just keep one and stick to it. In this case, Normal Controls are just better across all the genres. So stick with that. Or go with the Six Axis scheme, both in one.

What if there was a scenario whereby the console you buy comes with a classic style controller and a motion controller in the box as standard?

But not in the Six Axis way, because that's just.... not very good.

Id be cool with that. But that aint gonna happen =/

I would like an option for both.

Some games are great for motion controls like FPS, but fighting games should never have them.

So "hardcore" gamers are satisfied with using a dual analog controller for the next 20 years?

Why would i want to play GTA 50 when there are slight changes to the overall experience? Count me out.

I would like to see Nintendo do something completely new - however I have a feeling they will go for some kind of Hybrid Motion/Classic controller.

One idea I had was a controller that is configurable that allows you to remove the duel sticks to make it more streamlined for waving around in a sports game.

None will substitute the other.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Both controls. Motion controls just proved without any doubt they are here to stay, but it's also clear they didn't replace classic controls. Devs should choose the best controls for each game or offer users the choice whenever possible, sensible and feasible, without surrendering to any other pressures than their own judgment and their users' tastes.

Edit: thinking again about it, devs could be right if they accept and seek ergonomics experts advice, but not marketing people, choosing the best controls for a game or any other program is the former's, not the latter's job.

On another note, I've been a little away from console gaming for a while, now I come here and read all kinds of rumours about the next Nintendo console going back to standard gamepad controls... this is very strange.

I've come to the conclusion that Nintendo is simply stupid. It looks like they are gullible enough to believe in all the complaints that third parties have issued during the last few years, so their next home console is becoming a total mess that ends up not being supported well by third parties anyway.

I really hope your wrong, but I have a niggling fear you might be right.

Next up : Vitality sensor as the REAL next gen controller - with .4 inch HD screen.

Getting rid of motion controls altogether would be downright foolish. It would be going backwards in technology. It'd be like getting rid of the joystick and trigger buttons. Motion controls are simply a natural evolution of the controller.

But at the same time, that doesn't mean they should be forced upon every single game, like Wii devs tried to do. Motion controls are only significant when the game is well suited for them, like Wii Sports, Mario Kart, etc. Just like people prefer not to play 2D Mario and Tetris with a joystick, certain games/genres are best left the way they are. I think Nintendo is starting to realize this, which is why they seem to be pushing a traditional type controller as well as a Wiimote for their next console.

as far as i know nintendo is planning to do a hybrid scheme with both control types supported... im pretty sure that that info was leaked already... i think i also read something about how nintendo was planning to implement a new motion controller thats supposed to be more accurate than the move... so if those rumours are true we may end up with both controls being bundled with the console like how sony does currently
