Forums - General Discussion - Women gets to drip acid into a mans eyes by court rule

The world is simply horrible. No winner regardless of the penalty.

In all honesty I agree with the sentence to a degree. However revenge rarely benefits anyone. This man should rot in a jail cell for the rest of his life and pay compensation every dime he can earn. I don't think this women dropping acid in his eyes is going to accomplish anything.

But I am actually happy to see the Iranian Government punishing a man for his actions. So often the Iranian Government takes the man's side and the women gets unfairly treated. But in this case the man is getting what he deserves.

Of course if this were Canada/USA/Britian etc...etc... he'd probably see five to ten years and not pay any compensation. Basically getting away with the crime. This punishment is far more brutal and will teach the man a lesson and hopefully deter others from commiting this crime!

I think it's a fair punishment.

Why would it be illegal to own acid? It has about 5,000 uses...

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Majid was quoted as saying he did not regret his action but added: "I threw acid on her face so that she would be mine forever.

I don't know why he would say something like that and how it makes sense but OK.

The chance is small that she will be someone's else now...   Kind of normal when someone breaks up the man/women has those kind of revenge ideas....

the article may be from 2008, since that was the time of the trial, but the sentence is actually scheduled for today (saturday).

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I fully agree, and I think the judgement was completely fair. I too use to think that the whole "eye for an eye" was a terrible idea and too barbaric. However after putting some more thought about it. I think "an eye for two" is actually a much better world.

Plus it compeletely defeats the laughable "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" because with it the people who don't deserve to be alive will be blind far sooner than any of the others.

Yes, shame on Ghandi for saying something like that (even though seems like it's literally true in this case).
