I assure you, this is 100% honest and not a trick at all.

My wife's been out of town, and I've been Skyping with her lately. However, for some inexplicable reason, her computer - a *brand new* Asus Aspire - is sending some VERY strange noises to me:

Listen to those short recordings. They're kinda quiet, so you'll need to turn up the volume (I had mine maxed to listen to it). I promise it's not a trick and nothing's going to jump out at you.

But, what on earth would be causing that sound? I Skyped with her before she went home with her computer and it sounded fine. The strange noises only started when she got to Ohio; but they're reproduced regardless of where she is in her parents' house, so it's not like it's background noise being picked up from something in their house. And there have never been funny noises in the background when we talk on the phone.

The sounds, as you can tell from the recordings, are louder and more wild sounding at different times. They usually sound like big bubbles in water, like maybe a large aquarium or something, but sometimes they also sound like growling and almost even like something talking. It's quite disturbing.

I'll try to collect better samples throughout the remainder of the week, as my wife's out of town until Saturday.

Discuss.

Microsoft buying Skype shall release the dark lord Cuthulhu, it's the only explanation.

Sounds like someone drowning or something, at some points...

Hard to explain if she's already moved all around the house...

-Does your wife carry a water bottle around? (maybe the sloshing could explain it)
-Is the laptop liquid cooled?
-Is your in-laws house near water? (maybe the laptop microphone is sensitive to the frequency of the noises produced by/near the water, while the telephone receiver/human ear isn't)
-Is your in-laws house made of water beds?

Haha, no, none of those options applies. Her parents have well water and they pretty much only use what they have to. And as I said, it's an ordinary Asus Aspire. Brand new, but it has nothing unique about it.

So, yeah. Again, there's absolutely no explanation that explains it appropriately.

The more interesting explanations I've gotten so far include:

-someone was drowned where they built their house and its angry ghost is haunting
-their house is demon possessed
-Microsoft buying Skype triggered the release of Cthulhu inside the program

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
