Forums - Nintendo - What does Nintendo need to do to save 3DS?

Alright so having just come back a few days ago and being embarrased thinking Nintendo sold 3.6-million 3DS networks I am faced with the reality that Nintendo is failing on an epic scale to push the 3DS. I know some spin's have been put that Nintendo intentionally kept marketing to a minimum to allow supply to out strip demand.

But whether Nintendo intentionally under marketed and under sold or not they are in a pickle now. The 3DS is loosing weekly to the Nintendo DS its prediscessor, which is really sad. I don't see any 3DS advertising infact in the last few weeks of watching TV I hadn't seen a single ad infact yesterday I was watching G4 and saw that Nintendo3DS was listed as a sponsor for the Canadian Video Game Awards, that was the first ad I had seen in weeks.

So their are a couple stumbling block's I have heard brought up. The biggest one I stand by is lack of marketing. But others point to price and season saying not launching in Winter hurt sales. Others will say the lack of software both casual and hardcore.

So the question I put forward is what does Nintendo have to do this fiscal year to save the 3DS? WIth NGP coming this winter Nintendo needs a gameplan what is the best one you can think of?

They've got a seriously large amount of money from the Wii and DS - I've hardly seen any adverts for the thing. Get the product out there- give us some adverts showing us the new features, and put up a 3DS demo booth in every shop. Awareness is key.

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
only goods games and the system will sell...
No new games since release and we all know games sell consoles.
Nintendo should dump enough titles out to keep people busy before leaving wide open "release window" for 3rd parties that don't release anything anyways.
Not only that, the early release in console life also get a huge advantage of pushing extra sales due to lack of competition and choices. Yet, we didn't get any new game bar launch titles (not counting region differences where a title release later).
Give it a new name and give it a price point of $199 at the most. The average person that thinks of the 3DS looks at it as a DS with 3D capabilities which is not true. Also $249 for a handhed vs $149 for there console. That is a problem they will need to look at carefully.
I hope not, otherwise I'll loose my bet.
Above: still the best game of the year.
Simple - discontinue the DS. and the sales of the DS will go into the 3DS.
it leads me to believe, in about 1 or 2 years when the DS is discontinued the device will sell a lot more then!
Bring the games and we'll buy.
Right now the 3DS may be in it's very early stages of it's life but once the games start rolling out, it'll have its sales pick up immediately.
Right now it lacks 1 key thing: Mario.
It's not rocket science to know that Mario is a huge system seller and once Super mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3D comes out, BAM! there goes the sales!
Mario and prob pokemon grey exclusive to the 3ds. And some good thrid party games sprinkled about lol.
Zelda and Mario. The 3DS needs no saving. Plus, let's face it, spring to summer is the DEADEST time of year for game sales. Were this the holidays I'd be concerned but I still find no reason to worry about the 3DS. These threads are utterly boring.
