Yea but alot people already played it on 360 no ones played graces or Xillia. |
What's stopping them from getting the version with extra content? I myself have completed the game on the XBOX 360 2 times, if it comes out on the PS3 I wouldn't hesitate to complete it another 2 times.
And as I said before, the demand on the PS3 for a localised versino of ToV is huge, not many Tales fans own an XBOX 360.

| Mad55 said: Okay what about lost odyssey and blue dragon both of which sold over 800k and are exclusive Also infinite undiscovery and the last remnant sold pretty well maybe not meeting expectations but they did fine. That whole year late port is getting old ifpeople want it they would have got it. and if your gonna use that logic why should namco give ps3 owners vesperia it will only sell bad because its a late port in your eyes right? Also look at ps3 jrpg exclusives like the last rebellion, Ar tonelico 3, trinity universe. hyper dimension neptunia, none of them have managed to do over 100k in america but the 360 has lower selling jrpgs that have cracked better milestones. Microsoft did those timed exclusives to help them in japan and it may not have worked but it helped more than their strategy with the original xbox and it gave 360 owners some good games It wasnt a shitty deal sony does those types of deals as well.

You're seriously comparing a bunch of NISA published tiny little games to stuff done by the creator of Final Fantasy, and Square Enix? How ridiculous, most of those games sold within their norm for the series, noone expects huge numbers. If you want to compare why don't you bring out things like Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls which are at least on the same scale.
But regardless, the only direct comparisons we have for the sales potential of JRPGs on the two systems are FFXIII and Resonance of Fate. Both of those show that the PS3 sell them a bit better in the West and far better in Japan so I don't know what you are trying to prove by comparing exclusives with all kinds of different situations.
edit: I actually just checked and you even chose the worst selling NISA published games, ignoring stuff that did sell over 100k like Cross Edge and particularly Atelier Rorona (150k). If you're going to just take the worst selling RPG's for comparison why don't we compare to all those terrible SRPG's Atlus put on the 360?

what only using ff 13 and resonance of fate isnt fair as there are other jrpgs that are multiplat thatsold better on the 360 than the ps3. You may say some were late ports to the ps3 but i feel that if people want it theyll get it. and i chose those games because he was talking as if ps3 jrpgs sell just all great on the ps3 when all of them dont. and just because a creator of a series makes a new franchise doesnt mean people are gonna flock to it. and your asking me why dont i bring out games like demon souls and valkyrie chronicles because its known that they sold good im trying to prove to him that there are good selling rpgs on the 360 and that players appreciate them and that the ps3 isnt just the only place jrpgs should be.

How do you know alot of tales fans dont own a 360? what are you basing that off of. because symphonia is the best selling tales in america not a sony tales. and abyss and legendia didnt sale anywhere near as good as symonia in america. I actually believe that symphonia 2 and vesperia are above abyss and legendia in terms of american sales.
The big walls of text are starting to hurt my eyes. ><

It's not "some were late ports" it's "all were late ports". You don't find it telling about year old ports that the only two multiplat jRPGs that sold on both consoles at the same time sold significantly better on PS3 while late ports tend to sell worse? Of course people will lose interest after a year (I'm guilty of that myself for SO4) and multiple console owners will obviously go with 360 over PS3. It's an obvious advantage to get a timed exclusive as far as sales go, to deny that is ridiculous.
Now I agree with your last sentence, but you certainly aren't going about proving it the correct way. Here I'll help:
"I admit that jRPGs do as a trend sell better on PS3 than on 360 but that doesn't negate the fact that there is a fanbase for jRPGs on the 360 as seen for games like LO, TLR, and BD, and even multiplats sell reasonable amounts." Now you won't be making filacious arguments about how late ports don't affect sales or one sidedly talking about dissapointing sales of these games on one console but not the other. It's just a true statement.

Following four games are as of December 2007 NPD.
Tales of Abyss - 68k
Tales of Legendia - 74k
Tales of Symphonia - 465k (GC stopped tracking Feb 07)
Tales of the World - 30k
Tales of Vesperia (I remember being 108k)
Tales of Symphonia 2 (I remember being roughly above that, but not by much)
Playstation 1 Tales games didn't do well either.
This showcases oppposite trend of Japan. As the sony verisons do much better in Japan.

Ill just tell you that im pretty sure that those sales wouldnt be much different of the year old ports thats my opinion though. Like how graces came out in japn for the wii in 2009 but were still getting it i never lost interest I think a larger percent will buy simething even if it s late of they still want it eventually maybe not day one. but yea.

vgchartz has both vesperia and DOTNW at 200k . Vesperia seemed to keep selling bit by bit, which seems evident by how namco released a few copies with black and grey manuals.
