Forums - Sony - And we are back to Square 1 as Sony implicates Anonymous to US House Probe

either way, you've covered all your bases.

If it turns out that they catch him and it's a rogue anon, you'll still be right, because you wouldn't be surprised. In the meantime, you get to call all of us stupid.

Great discussion we have here. Bye.

2. You are overthinking it.  It may not keep the person from being caught at all.  But if I was a cybercriminal trying to steal client information from a company that had recently pissed off a known cyberterrorist group, I might leave something stupidly simple like a document giving credit to that group.  Would it work? who knows? but the document would have taken probably 2 minutes to type and upload.  Since part of any type of terrorism is taking credit for their actions, it doesn't seem like a horrible idea.  Copy "We are Legion", open txt doc, paste "We are Legion", upload.  Done.

IM OVERTHINKING IT. THE PERSON WHO IS SAYING THAT IT IS THE SIMPLE SOLUTION, NOT THE SONY-PLANTED-FAKE-EVIDENCE-TO-TRICK-THE-CONSUMERS-DESPITE-BEING-INVESTIGATED-BY-THE-FUCKING-CIA-AND-WILL-GET-CAUGHT SOLUTION.

Also, I laughed so fucking hard at the italicized.

Yes. . . you are over thinking it.  It was a simple document.  I never even said it was a solution.  I just said it is something simple to do and there are reasons why someone might do that.  I hope you laughed hard.  Maybe it moved a couple brain cells into working again.  For some reason you want to make it sound like I'm proposing some kind of grand conspiracy.

Take it down a notch.  Sometimes, things are done for simple reasons.  In this case, there are three posibilities, Anonymous placed it to take credit, a hacker looking to steal data for financial gain left it because people would have expected Anonymous, and Sony could have done it for PR reasons.  Again, to go back to my original point.  I woudn't be surpriced if Sony placed the file since they had a reason to, but there were other possibilities as well.

But, I'm sure you still basking in the glow of your ability to use capslock and the hyphen.  Bravo.  I think I'll leave it at that.  At this point, if you still think I'm stupid.  I'm ok with that.  I do get a little giggle at thinking about the self satisfied expression I'm sure you had on your face when you made that post though.  I love the internet.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

"My guess is that they were hacked by someone looking to make money from the information and they were working on getting more credit card info when Sony shut down the network.  It was a good time to do it because they had been threatened by the now infamous Anonymous.  The Anonymous file could have been left by them, again because the US government would like to use that to justify more raids on people's computers and would bite on that bait.  Sony could also have put it there as a way to go from negligent company to victim of super-hackers.  With this event potentially costing them tens of millions, if not hundreds, over the course of the next few years, they will take any PR advantage they can get."

So is everyone convinced that Sony are the ones trying to frame Anon?

Boy the thread got big while I was gone. I dont think it was sony trying to frame them. I really hope not cause I am sure that would come back to bite them in the butt. I also dont think the original anon group did this. Other than that I really have no thoughts. I think it was done by Criminals whos goal was to steal info and cc numbers

I'm just baffled by how people can think Sony are the ones trying to frame Anon seriously, what do they stand to gain from doing that?

From Sony's standpoint, it doesn't matter who hacked them, they were hacked that's where the matter ends. What could pointing the finger at Anon possibly gain them?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.
