I was looking at Sony's price cuts for the PS2 (was quite surprised!) and wondered what the VGChartz community could gauge from them when it comes to how Microsoft is going to price cut the X360, given its model is going to follow closer to PS2 than Xbox or Gamecube.

PS2
Oct 2000 -$299.99
May 2002 - $199.99
May 2003 - $179.99
May 2004 - $149.99
April 2006 - $129.99
April 2009 - $99.99

X360 (Baseline price)
Nov 2005 - $299.99
August 2007 - $279.99
August 2008 - $199.99

Microsoft obviously likes its price cuts few and far between, if they followed the same model/timeframe as Sony with the PS2, they'd be at $99.99 by now, but it's a safe bet they're going to cut this year. I thought a $129 cut would be on the cards to take them to 2013 720 launch, then a cut to $99 to last till 2015. But given it took Sony 4 cuts to get to $99, I'm not sure MS will do it in two.  $149 > $129 > $99 doesn't seem like a good idea to me though ...

I cant see them going any lower than $149.99

199 250GB and say good bye to Arcade version

I've said $150 for some time.

I stand by that prediction.

i said 179, but that assuming they keep current sku's.

i think they will change things up, so i really dont know what prices and skus plus kinect bundles will look like. there is so many possibilities

179 or 149 is reasonable, then they could make the 4gb kinect bundle $249.

$129 seems to be the unofficial price in Canada now for 4GB Xbox.

$149 for 4GB and $225 for 250GB or 4GB with Kinect and $300 for 250GB with Kinect

is my bet for what they do

What I would do.

First off there will be adjustment to HDD size (not sure about flash sizes though). Think it is likely that HDD size will move to 500GB, maybe 320GB.

4GB $149
4GB with Kinect $200
HDD $249
HDD with Kinect $299

Kinect price reduction to $99.99
HDD price reduction to $99.99

So if you purchase a 4GB and then upgraded you would end up paying $350. So good incentive to purchase all now if you can.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

50 dollar cuts across the board(including Kinect)
