Forums - Sales - Iwata: We can't sell the 3DS because customers are too stupid to value it

Well, it looks like Nintendo is finally wisening up and they're hearing a clear message from their customers: "We're to stupid, please educate us about the joys of portable 3D bliss!". You might remember that the problem with the VirtualBoy was that everyone was too  stupid to value awesome headache inducing 3D bliss but if only Nintendo had known the real problem then. It wasn't the product itself but the stupid customers.

That's not what he's saying:

"The value of 3D images without the need for special glasses is hard to be understood through the existing media. However, we have found that people cannot feel it just by trying out a device, rather, some might even misestimate it when experiencing the images in an improper fashion," he said.

Needs games, yo.

They are copying PS3 launch perfectly ;)

I had no intention of buying a 3DS, but gave one a try at target recently and need to say I didnt like the 3D experience.  We got a good deal on a Samsung 8000 series LED 3D TV at Christmas and much prefer that 3D experience.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

They really shouldn't be pushing the gimmicks and just come out with some good games, and relying on 3rd parties is stupid with the shovelware nintendo usually gets from them

Ummm maybe nintendo cant concieve how thier gift to all mankind has no damn games worth a crap yet. well maybe one or 2 but not enough to justify a damn near $300purchase after tax and if you buy a game too its over $300. the price of a 360 or ps3. sometimes nintendo blinds themself with their ego, which is what gave birth to the original playstion to begin with.

misleading title...I posted this already on the Ninty forums. Not what he is saying at all

Actually, if you know what Sony's proposal was, the PS was really born out of Sony's ego. It was just greatly facilitated by Yamauchi's harsh attitude towards the deal, the "betrayal" was in the cards from Sony, they just weren't counting on it being so dramatic. They knew very well what they were doing.
