Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo announces upcoming Wii/DS/3DS lineups

No to a Wii 2 release. The game's almost done according to what he said, they're not going to switch it now. You think SE would not know about the Wii 2 not even a month before Nintendo say a new console is coming? It would be pointless to switch it now since the game's still going to sell very well. Plus the Wii 2 is going to have a very low userbase by the time DQ X is out (the game should release before the Wii 2 is out anyway) and DQ always goes to the platform with the highest sales.

"All we can say is that development is going well and we're on the last parts of the game. We can't really share much else at this point, but by the end of this year we should be able to announce something regarding it."

Yes. The game is almost done... But there wont be anything seen from the game until the end of the Year? That sounds strange if you ask me. All that time with a completed game, yet not letting anything at all see the light of day? Not releasing it when it's done? Sounds like they're just stalling for, you know, a port...

By the way, if DQ always goes to the platform with the highest sales, then DQX would have had its development on the DS... Not the Wii.

Also. Actually. Think about it. The game was nearly finished but nothing could be announced at all. Why couldn't they announce or show anything until the end of the Year if the game's almost finished? I think I know why...

That's also what I think. I mean I still think it's coming out on the Wii but I guess a Wii 2 release is not out of question.

Showing pictures would be treacherous as it would show much better graphics then what the Wii can pull off.

Wiimers dying of starvation confirmed.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

Is this really that much different, then what was released earlier in the month?

You know what, just read the DQ X argument at GAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427946&page=4

And the Wii is the next candidate for highest sales after the DS...

I'm not reading through a bunch of pages of people speculating what will and wont happen with a videogame at 4:45 in the morning.

I'm just simply saying that if the game is pretty much complete, but they're not allowed to show anything off until late in the Year, then it's mighty coincidental that Nintendo are also showing off a new, shiny HD system later in the year.

And no. You're wrong. Say "Hey there!" to the PSP, which has sold like 5 Million more units than the Wii in Japan, and at the time of DQX announcement, had sold like 5 Million more units than the Wii Worldwide. 2 Platforms had sold more than the Wii at the time of DQX announcement, and the Wii is the 3rd place console in Japan right now too.

Well read it later? Whatever you think though.

Also the Wii is the #2 selling platform WW. Maybe that's not the case when it was announced but in 2008 but if they were looking to the future when DQ X would release then the Wii would appear to them as the highest selling console besides the DS. And it is.

I'll give it a read after I wake up some time.

The Wii is the number 2 selling platform WW. Which again disproves that DQ always goes to the best selling platform lol. Seriously. DS has outsold the Wii WW. DQIX is the best selling DQ ever. DS and PSP are above the Wii in Japan and the Wii's current situation has the console looking like it's stagnant and dying.

IMO they would be stupid to not put it on the Stream or 3DS as a Multi.

:/

You're totally missing the point...

Also I edited my post saying since the Wii 2 is BC I think it becomes even more pointless. DQ X will sell fine. It's DQ.

Yeah, it's not like third parties can't sell games. They just think any game is as good as the other, and Dragon Quest is not a niche game being presented as a hit game (Extraction).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Pretty much the same lists as posted earlier this month. Don't show anything we didn't know about already.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

I'm just happy Xenoblade is being localised

I think DQX release on N6 is very plausible, it would help Square Enix and japan core-gamers to get more acquainted with the new system, if it's ready for launch it could increase hardware sales at least in japan imo, leaving more time to Nintendo to develop their own hit-titles. On the other hand we know the Wii is very weak in japan atm, and judging by these lineups I don't think the situation will be better in 2012, so realasing DQX too late on Wii may be like a missed opportunity for Square Enix. However I think we will have a better idea after E3, if the N6 is capable of running Wii games in 1080p, then I think a Wii release for DQX in 2012 is more likely.

So what is left for us on Wii? 6 games? Zelda, Xenoblade, The Last Story, NewKirby, Pandora's Tower and (maybe)DQX... did I forget something?

If N6 gets full backwards compatibility, why wouldn't you leave it on Wii? Maybe with late Game Boy or late Game Boy Color style "N6 enhanced" features, but primarily still on the platform with the (by then) 95-plus million userbase, instead of the one with the (maybe barely) 4 million userbase? You could still use it to sell N6's to people who never bought Wiis, but also sell it to the vast Wii base

It's a no-brainer. What would they gain from just putting it on the N6?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
