Rumours can hold some truth but can also be highly skewed.
At the end theres a device with a 6'' HD screen that connects to the console, yes sir, but is not its controller. Its something else.

The people who were whining about motion controls being inferior and 'casual' are jumping on these rumours and trying to convince themselves that Nintendo is abandoning them for dual analogs. That would basically be a step backwards. Can't wait to see their reactions when an upgraded Wiimote and nunchuk comes out as the main controller. |
I didn't mean to imply that I want Nintendo to go to dual analogs. The Wiimote is my favorite controller and the idea of not having separate peices doesn't necessarily appeal to me. All I was doing was positing a theory based on the rumors of a touch screen controller and hoping to spark a good conversation. I apologize if I confused anyone.

If thats true, just wait for a game were you can haptically feel boobs. Japan dominance incoming.

Only Japan?
OT: I think most people will end disappointed. It's a controller and Nintendo! It needs to be cheap enough to be sold for 50-60 € so you can buy 3 more to play with your friends, and it needs to resist those little hits and scratches that every controller get. A 6" screen, 1080p or not, or that haptic tech seems too expensive to meet those goals.
Please excuse my bad English.
Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
I think most rumors will end up being somewhat true, but it`s probably not like we are envisoning it or even close to the IGN mock-up. I don`t see Nintendo wanting to go for the blue once again and providing a controller that seems complicated to use.

All the Wii stuff might be compatible with it.

Doesn't matter. It's still a step backwards to put motion controls on the backburner and make the ancient design that is dual analog the primary controller.
from what Iv seen the Gamecube controller with a screen slapped on is a pretty awesome idea

Yeah - At this point, with all the rumors from multiple sources all reporting similar stuff, it can't all be a big lie Even IGN is reporting it, and they seem pretty sure it's fact At least some of has to be true imo |
Holding some truth and being anything like what we have seen suggested are two very different things ...
There were several rumours (and expert speculation) that the "Nintendo Revolution" would use gyroscopes, but the implied use was closer to the Sixaxis than it was to the Wiimote; and there was no speculation about a direct pointing interface, and very little about it being a one hand configuration. On top of these obvious differences, there is also the important point that the motion sensor in the Wiimote is not a gyroscope.
In the case of Nintendo's next generation system it is possible that the controller might have a screen built into it but that doesn't mean that it would be a 6 inch HD touchscreen built into a controller that is similar to a classic controller. If it is a 2 inch low resolution touch screen that is similar to the Dreamcast's VMU there would be "some truth" to the rumour, but that doesn't mean that the rumour is anything like what was produced.
The only reason to believe the 6" screen rumor is that Nintendo might be worried about the iPad. But if it isn't multitouch then many iOS games won't get ported anyways. And 6" is still not tablet size.
However to go back to a any two handed controller just seems to be a HUGE step backwards. I thought the six-axis proved that motion in a traditional controller doesn't do jack shit.
My hope was that Nintendo was waiting for Skyward Sword to demonstate what motion plus could accomplish in a longer, complex game. Wish they would leave the controller alone for once & just release a HD compatable console that the technophile Western studios can port games to. Then add in a camera (although with a wider lens than the Kinect) for the casuals.
