Gore didn't lose.  That's why everyone remembers him.  That and he invented the internet.

you name only 1 of the other rans? There were more than that. Partial memory still isnt a good memory =)

OOT is a very different animal, you're talking about one of the blockbuster games of all time, and one of the highest rated games of all time.

The top selling console is the only one that really gets remembered, traditionally. NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, and now Wii. Everything else becomes an "also ran", just the way it goes. Can you recall all the candidates that ran for president last election? How about the one prior? Yeah, neither can I

The top selling console also usually gets the greatest quantity of shovelware and titles for the masses, due to how popular it is.  And percentages of shovelware verses AAA quality doesn't matter, IF you have enough stuff of interest to you on  a platform.

No, it is not. I only have a wii (I am Pc gamer as well) and the wii has tons of great games, biased people only see what they want to see.

@Raze you kidding me??? I mentioned 2, DC and N64. Theres Xbox, GC, Saturn, freaking Genesis, im sure most gamers remember that. OOT is a different beast??? how so it was a blockbuster on a also ran console. I could name some games on also ran consoles as well that are blockbusters. DC=Sonic Adventure, GC=just about any Ninty game, Genesis=Sonic, Xbox=Halo, Saturn im not so sure about

Nah, I'm not talking about quantity, more just HAVING a game in their.

I don't follow 360 much, but it doesn't have much other than FPS' which are easy to see. Maybe PS3 has more, but that's MY opinion, which interest me and me only.

IMO, PS3>Wii>360, but that's my opinion. Wii has more Platformers, party, on-rails shooters and strategy it would seem. But PS3 otherwise.

again you're just changing your tune now.... the hd consoles have way way more variety in most of the genre out there than the wii..easily too. quantity AND quality wise.

i disagree about 360 too, true it has a lot of great FPS and it might not match up to ps3 in diversity of things but even that has more diversity than the wii..not just in shooters.

and on-rail shooters? really? that's something to be proud about? who in their right minds want a on rails vs a normal shooter.

not sure about strategy...not a genre I'm familiar with so can't answer that..platformers and party games? for sure

You do understand it's all up to taste and opinion, you BOTH can't state either as a fact.

0_o not sure what to say man...forget perspective...that's just flat out wrong

Hey, I'm talking independantly of the other consoles. Just looking ast the Wii it has games in those genres. Not many, but enough, say, 2-8 in each genre.

Also,  zgamer- the PS2 has 197 games which score above 75 on MetaCritic. Out of over 2,000. So around 9% aren't shovelware. The Wii has 92 out of 877 releases, so 11% aren't 'shovelware'

Breaking it down, at this point in the lifecycle of the PS2, it had a shovelware percentage of 10%. It works extending it down as well.

I've read some absurd, outright ridiculous posts on this site but this just takes the biscuit, bravo!!

For starters, shovelware doesn't mean something rated under 75 on metacritic. One man's treasure is another man's gold and all that, you judge a library on it's strength's not it's weaknesses, and PS2 is FAR ahead of the Wii, dude, PS2 is considered by the vast majority of the gaming industry as a SW powerhouse in terms of quality/quantity.

You'll never hear the same for the Wii, unless that person is a Wii fan. Like yourself funnily enough ....

Add insult to injury, you just said 360 is just a shooterbox more or less?????? What is wrong with you?

Up until a few weeks ago, I was a Wii only owner and I was very satisfied with it. Sure it could've used more games but I loved what it had.

This is a subjective matter that varies from person to person, some people think it failed while others think it was good.

For me, who was an exclusive Wii gamer for about 2 years after which I got the 360, I have to say the Wii did terribly this gen for the hardcore audience. With an abysmal third party support (all multiplatform games being far superior on the HD consoles), terrible online support in a generation where multiplayer has become the centrepiece, and gimmicky controls that are only fun for 5 minutes, many hardcore games didn't even bother using it entirely, eg, SSBB and NSMB, (a waggle doesn't count) while FPS games are just better played with the classic controller for better accuracy, eg, Goldeneye and Conduit. It may seem as though I am hating, but this is just how I feel. Once upon a time, I used to defend the Wii and blindly looked over all of its flaws, but only after playing on a HD console have I realised the major problems the Wii has.

That said, the Wii definitely won't be forgotten, as it has ushered in a new era into the gaming world (with new controls and bringing in the casual market) which will be remembered forever.
