Forums - Gaming Discussion - Uncharted 3 Vs Gears of War 3 Graphics

Graphics wise, I think Gears looks a bit more polished from what I can see in these screens but I like the grpahic style that uncharted uses. the Gears characters look like freaking neanderthals.

They both haven't released yet. People also thought Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Lair and GT5 were going to be the best looking games based on their early screen shots, but once people actualy got to play them, flaws become evident. Never judge a game by artwork, screenshots or PR, thats my rule and I've stuck to it since Lair and it's worked out pretty well for me.

I don't want to be completely Off Topic though, so I'll mention what I've seen in gameplay videos. Gears 3 has nice looking character models, the ground textures are muggy, the lighting is average, the foilage looks great, it seems like the framerate is fast and solid, the particle effects are decent, but I've seen better (mainly Crysis 2), the animations are improved, the camera has been pulled back a bit (which I like), my only big problem is that it looks like a polished Gears of War 2, which was a polished Gears of War 1, I wanted more. This is all based on the Giant Bomb BETA playthrough video, all in HD.

I can't say anything about Uncharted 3, mainly because there hasn't been any proper screenshots for it and I can't find any decent video footage, most of it's off screen or just a normal trailer. I'll have to wait for the BETA to make a proper judgement.

Both of the games have like five months until release, any problems they have now, could be gone by then. Hell, I've seen whole games look like turds and then come out looking great, Timeshift and Demons Soul's comes to mind.

hmm true. You shouldnt judge graphics by screen shots. And the only gameplay of uncharted 3 is a really old build that came out December of 2010. Gears of war 3 has a slight advantage with a 3 year dev cycle but the people at Naughty Dog are experts at polishing games up so who knows which game will look better.

Aren't those Uncharted 3 SS of the multiplayer anyways?

Ya uncharted 3 hasnt released any singleplayer screens or

footage lately. So I had to use Multiplayer screeshots. Im pretty sure the singleplayer will look more polished.

Uncharted 3 has Shadow issues... They look too fake :/

It is kind of funny that some people here are doubting Naughty Dog. Seriously, it's Naughty Dog for the love of god >.>

Those Gears 3 ones are too.

i never liked gears characters, theyre so mishapen and unproportional, it distracts from the game, i dont like they way they do their graphics

you aren't talking about graphics, you are talking about art direction.  There is a difference.

Well based on those screens Gears3 looks better. Uncharted screen shots always look bland.

Safe bet Uncharted 3 will have better graphics though. And Sony fans will make sure everybody knows.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
