Blog Reports PSP go Death

Sony reportedly ending production on troubled download-only portable system.

Posted on 04.19.2011 at 16:37, by Anoop Gantayat

With triple digit weekly sales, PSP go died a long time ago. But Sony may be making it official.

A blog that appears to be run by a Sony Shop employee (or at the very least a super hardcore Sony fanatic) reports that Sony has confirmed to his sales manager that production on the troubled portable system is indeed ceasing. The blogger's shop won't be getting any more shipments.

This talk of PSP go's production end apparently began recently when a link to the PSP go was removed from the Sony Store games page. You can still access the Sony Store PSP go product listing here, although you can't actually order the system because there's no stock and no forecast for when stock will arrive.

-edit- update:

PSPgo production HAS been ceased in UK - Source

Following reports from Japan this morning, a UK retail source has indicated that PSPgo production has been ceased in the UK.

That's according to respected trade mag MCV, which is reporting that retailers have received word from their suppliers "that once current PSPgo stock is sold we will not be receiving replenishments".

way to end the thread in the op :-p

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

TEN YEAR PLAN!!

JK!

What with PSP2 coming, it's silly to have so many PSP products on the market, IMO as well as the PSP is selling, they should ditch it come PSP2 launch (except Japan) and concentrate on their new handheld.

Fresh start and all that.

Hopefully this means I can get one cheap,   been looking for one to play all of the PS1 and miniS games I have downloaded

But but but, I just bought myself a used PSPgo for 90 bucks last week :O

The accessories were down to $4.99 at my local walmart, so I got myself a tv cable, a nice pouch, etc.

They can kill it all they want. As long as they keep releasing psp games, it doesn't matter. It's a fine piece of hardware.

About freakin time I say, PSP2 is already announced and soon comming out while PSPGO barely sells shit if at all....

I can't say it often enough, not the digital distribution ogf games killed the system, the catastrophal support and the ridiculous price killed it.

How many percent of all PSP games are actually playable on PSP Go? And how did they justifiy $250 when the PSP-3000 plays ALL games and costs about $50 less?

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

I don't think there ever was more production than the first shipping really.

Bought a white Go a couple of weeks ago and they are still at 5.70 firmware.

You can't kill what already is dead.

Above: still the best game of the year.
