I think Microsoft will follow soon...Sony is in trouble since they are just making profits from the PS3, they are not gonna be financially ready to launch the PS4 in a long time.

Hmmm. I remain unconvinced... But then again... Nintendo may need to show at least some of their hand now. A small on stage demonstration, you know, an on stage model, trailer reel of their big franchises, a couple of third party franchises, confirmation of some of its features, improved online, before making it clear this system is coming 2012. I mean, Sony and Microsoft have been adamant they won't have new systems ready for years to come. What could they cook up in response to Nintendo's new system, Nintendo's internal support and perhaps significant third party support come Q4 2012?
Nintendo's internal teams have been very quiet for a while. Something big is going down. I've been convinced for a while Q4 2012 would be the time for launch, I just didn't think and still am not convinced they'd show their hand so early. But perhaps they feel the need for a big public show, or perhaps a big public tease of N6 to get third parties and stock holders on their side now by exciting the press, retail and the masses. E3 may be the time to do it.
This makes sense and I'm inclined to believe it is true. Outright denying it is only going to make people revive this thread a year or so from now and laugh at your face.
Edit - hell, we are real late compared to NeoGaf. Shame on you all VGcharterz.

After so many years of being wrong about Wii 2 he gets one year right? I remember when the wii HD was due out 2009.

Don't worry. I think exactly that's whats gonna happen. Namely that Wii 2 is hardware-wise on par with PS360 and will at best get some of the HD multiplatforms towards the end of gen.
I believe Xbox 3 will remain on schedule and be released in Nov 2013 and PS4 the year after.

Not really. Predicting that Nintendo would one day make an HD console is like saying "one day, Kim Jong Il is going to die."
His insistent prediction of its imminence year after year was discrediting enough

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
I have my countdown counting...just under 200 days to go. Anyone remember that?
Also, these 'sources' aren't relaible. I don't see it. Maybe an announcement at TGS, an definitely a price drop, but that's it IMO

If it's true
Same thing coul be said about last year.
And the year before
And the year before...
He's been predicting a HD console since before the Wiis launch to my knowledge. Being right once is like saying I'll have to get a new TV and laptop at some point.
Calling the inevitable is not predicting
IGN is also reprting it and added that Nintendo is going to send a press release announcing the console and the full unveil will be at E3 just like what they did for the 3DS.
Kotaku and IGN are saying it's going to be better than the PS3 and 360 graphically.
Also the official E3 twitter also left a teaser.

Just want to play good games
IGN is reporting the same thing - and more details - from their own sources, so this looks like it's pretty much the real deal.

More powerful than PS3 and backwards compatible.
My guess is Nintendo reveals specs this E3 buts saves novel defining 'gimmick' until next E3 so MS/Sony can't copy (too quickly).
Really this is no surprise, the lack of games currently was telling their resources are elsewhere. There's a ton of great stuff they can bring over from Japan for WIi to fill up the rest of this year and into next without needing much actual new content wise.
