Nintendo will have a trick up their sleeve, they wouldnt release a console like this, when they were beaten by Sony so badly with the PS1 and PS2. thats when they tried to compete directly with Sony, this time i think they will have a trick up their sleeve.

i think they might be trying to force Sony and Microsoft into launching new consoles. if they do this then they will have a similar advantage as the Wii had to the 360 and the PS3.

Nintendo will get the same 3rd party support the other 2 consoles get imo. no reason not to.

yes clearly the next Wii would be a HD console, so he was bound to be right eventually.

The messed up part is that Nintendo themselves said their next console would be HD capable before the Wii itself even launched.

I had forgotten about the VMU, but the difference in that case was it was a low-res screen even for its time. The way they say HD screen i'd imagine something at least as good as my cell-phone (not smartphone level, but sub-smartphone touchscreen level)

Nintendo invents most of its stuff or adds stuff that never was used for games before so that can be called copy when others do the same

Of course it will have HD but not the same thing can be said about motion and analogue sticks and stuff. If it wasn’t for Nintendo we would probably still be playing with joysticks and a button till this day :P  

Yes. Sony followed MS into the HD console market, just like Nintendo will be following them too.

And yes. We've heard for Years now that Sony/MS have copied Nintendo on those things too. This is why it's going to be funny when Nintendo go HD. Why it's kinda funny that Nintendo went Sony's route and put an analogue on the handheld.

I'm also pretty sure the Wii Remote wasn't "invented" by Nintendo, it was "invented" by Gyration Inc. Nintendo just got them to make a motion controller... Although I could be wrong. Anyway, it's not like Sony didn't dip into motion control with the PS2, even if that WAS a copy of something else.

All I'm saying is, it's gonna be funny watching the same people who attack Sony/MS try to defend Nintendo when they go HD

Well no. Not the fans that are whining about Nintendo recently. The fans that are always overly defensive with Nintendo, or simply dislike Sony/MS for whatever reason.

If you can go back and take a look at the threads on the site around the time of PS Move's reveal, then you will be able to see it. There was even certain Admins at the time who were trolling/flaming...

Well I think it was both sides, because I saw that Sony fans trying to say it wasn't copying in any sense. Basically showcasing that sony would have done the move even if Nintendo  didn't release the wii. Personally my favorite is Jack Tretton stating that wii mote as being nothing, then releasing the device. 

Which I can say is true in this case, since Nintendo would do HD even if Sony or Microsoft didn't do HD. Personally I have no problem with Nintendo copying PC market for higher resolution, since I have HD TV, and plan on getting a second one this year.

I just found it annoying, that fans acted like it would have happened without the wii. Personally I just wanted to laugh at the 2006 PR statements by Jack about wii, and how sony would never do that.

The joined this gen back in later 2006.  Around the same time the PS3.  An entrant into a generation has never been defined by the horsepower of the console.
