At the beginning of the generation, PS3 fans were criticized everywhere they went for their console choice IRL.  Even going into Gamestop to buy a PS3 game in 2007, the employees would question my console choice.  "Xbox 360 is getting Halo 3, why don't you like it?"

As a result, people needed to vent on the internet.

We can even look at the history of this site.  At the beginning it was overwhelmingly Nintendo fanboys.  Most just freely attacked / trolled the PS3 and were even encouraged to do it by the mods at the time (FishyJoe, Shams, etc.).  Sony fans would almost be banned just for saying positive things about the PS3 while Nintendo fans (aka Gballzack) would get away with murder for a long time.  Eventually, the Sony fanboys started arriving to defend themselves and now there are more Sony fanboys than Nintendo fanboys on this site.

I think that's why MS fanboys never showed up here in numbers.  They were never caught in the fire as much.  At the beginning of the generation, there was more of the non-aggression pact between the 360 and Wii fans (aka Wii60.).

Sony fanboys had two fronts to fight (Nintendo and Microsoft) while Microsoft and Nintendo fanboys were mostly focused on Sony and not each other.  I guess it was because the underdogs uniting from last generation.  At least thats how it worked in Fanboy culture.  I was always more pro Nintendo and Sony and not so much MS.

To this day, in raw membership this site is more pro Sony, but in power structure - it is more pro Nintendo.  People that run this site are more pro Nintendo, I think.

A serious well thought out answer to a question that is usually just a precursor to trolling.  Well Done.

BTW, things like this are why I never understand when we discuss mod staff on the staff forums and some will start talking about "the good old days" and how we used to have "the dream team" of mods.  A lot of those mods are gone for good reason, I don't remember them being a dream team.

That said, I don't think it was as bad as you say just because I hear the same kind of thing for the current team coming from all sides.  "biased against _____" is a pretty common accusation for modding staff regardless of how true it is or isn't.

I like this, sums it up prety well lol.  I remember Fishyjoe.......ugh.

FishyJoe wasn't all that bad and certainly not worse than ckmlb who was a mod before him.

Nah, ckmlb just made a lot of insane threads, and he banned people easy when you were in a discussion with him and he was losing;.  In the end almost everyone knew that he made not much sense even a big part of the Sony fans did not liked him except a few of the typical suspects  Leo-J, Crazzyman,'Onna76' and a few others....

FishyJoe was from an other caliber he could say things that  would make some fans furious.. ' Sony has lost that much money?  Lucky I did not spend money on a PS3, I wonder when they will take the PS3 of the market'. or  ' So the PS3 is selling less than 10k a week in Japan, while the Wii is doing 25k, DQ X is announced for the Wii;.it is pretty clear Japanese devs don't trust the PS3 anymore with so many J-games being multiplatform it looks like it is over for PS3 especially when you know the PS3 is selling worse than the Gamecube in USA and getting a beating every week from the GBA.., software wise Ps3 is doing even worse with only 5 million sellers in its first year, developpers going bankrupt because they made an exclusive game on the PS3 (Remember Haze). And oh let's not forget that the Porn industry is going to support HD-DVD...Bye bye blu Ray...   only a fool would believe sony is going to be alirght in the end...'

With that all said no wonder FishyJoe became bitter when PS3 got more and more announcements of new games, when HD-DVD was over and the PS3 sales were picking up and soon was going to surpass the GC worldwide..

It is a pity we can not read the comments made on the Weekly sales charts...Great times;.

Edit: when reading this I miss the old days somehow;..

Define what you mean by "long time", bearing in mind that, to this day, people still walk around in Atari T-shirts

I think it is this site and gametrailers that are specifically more sony fans above others. Most of the sony fans aren't sony fanboys, but a lot of sony fanboys use to exist in the past day, while some return once in awhile.

When I entered the shift between Nintendo fans and Sony fans begone, namely with LBP winning some sales poll....which was the biggest joke ever.

The mod team, is a variety of individuals. I don't see anymore of the Nintendo Mods anymore. Given one of the Sony centric mod was removed awhile ago, so I don't know how the shift has been.

PS: I am Sony and Ninty guy mainly, who likes MS as well.]

Other communities exist, that are much better (in terms of nicer people, and less fanboys) and are more civilized. Given they can be boring at times, and are usually centered around the site's activity.

I dont know, something like 15 plus years. I should replace most by many though. Most is an exageration, I meant that they have more of this userbase then the other companies. Note that my answer is as general and unsupport by fact as the OP affirmation.

how the hell does the OP even know there are more Sony fans on the internet??? THe Net is vast so i seriously doubt that he has any idea about how much fans are actually out there, if your talking Vgchartz then maybe but i still think the Ninty fans on this site are slightly numerous or maybe their more vocal. IGn is still run my 360 followed by PS3 and i think Wii owners said screw it and left that site

First...

"there more PS3 fans on the internet than any other"

Is that a fact? Because I never see anything to prove it.

I think many of the members who were here with the intent of having "front row seats" to watch the doom of the PlayStation division are not around anymore.  It seems many left right around the time the Slim came out and set the charts on fire.  Here we are now with that console as the #1 7th generation machine and home console.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
