MARS ATTACKS... you know the game that bombed this gen... and well every single time it released after the first... wanna know why the first sold decent enough to warrent a new one? Cause it released when there was nothing else halfway decent to buy on the PS2. Seriously people give too much credit to past generations and too much credit to PS3 and 360 games, just because a corporation hypes a game doesn't mean that game is anything more than mediocre, it's just in past generations mediocre games weren't hyped at all and garnered no attention, but they've realized some segments of gamers will go out of their way to buy terrible games if they're marketed to... and they don't mind doing this when it costs them so much more to break even now. |
lol Maxwell.
Okay. The Wii's worst SW droughts have come in (arguably 2009) 2010 and now 2011 currently. These Years are the 4th and 5th Wii Years. Let's take a look at what big SW the PS1 and PS2 had launching in the 4th and 5th Years. Yey for lists.
PS1 4th Year -
Tekken 3
Resident Evil 2
Metal Gear Solid
Spyro the Dragon
Xenogears
PS1 5th Year -
Silent Hill
Final Fantasy VIII
Resident Evil 3
PS2 4th Year -
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
Final Fantasy XI
Burnout 3
Silent Hill 4
THUG 2
MK Deception
GTA: San Andreas
Killzone
Ratchet and Clank 3
Jak 3
NFS: Underground 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
PS2 5th Year (The Year that "Mars Attacks" released)-
Mercenaries
Gran Turismo 4
Tekken 5
Devil May Cry 3
God of War
LEGO Star Wars
Sly 3
The Warriors
Shadow of the Colossus
Guitar Hero
Dragon Quest VIII
Soul Calibur 3
Just so you know too with Destroy All Humans, it released the same day as Psychonauts. It released not long after LEGO Star Wars and Star Wars Episode 3. It launched in the same Month as Medal of Honor. You're wrong. There were things worth buying on PS2 at that certain time, and that's ignoring the "Evergreen" titles that sold so well. Destroy All Humans sold well because it was advertised well, it was a cool/unique concept at the time and released very close to War of the Worlds, which was huge at the Box Office and brought interest to the whole "Ooh, Aliens!" thing.
The 5th Year of PS1 and PS2 was the Year that a new gen started. I can understand saying that the PS1 had SW droughts, but the PS2 absolutely destroyed everything ever in terms of SW released. It has over 10,000 games and has sold over 1.5 Billion units of SW. To say the PS2 had bad streaks of SW in its first 5/6 Years is simply stupid.
Oh, and it's really funny that you say people give too much credit to the PS3/360 libraries in the same post that you're defending the Wii SW situation
