Obviously its because Firefox is XP compatible and I don't believe IE9 in Windows Update yet.

People still keeping XP are not really bothered with best and latest I think.

Well this is where you go wrong.

Keeping XP is what's wrong.

I'd already have switched to 7 if it supported some software I absolutely need right now. Luckily I won't need that stupid piece of software for much longer but there's still reasons to keep using XP - and the least reason is certainly not that XP is a fairly decent OS even today. Also, switching over to 7 isn't necessarily free... In fact, $100 is hardly cheap or even affordable for an OS.

In my experience, it's far more convenient, quick to use, and stable. Worth the upgrade, but if you can't just yet then eh, I get it. XP is decent, Win7 impressed me a lot though.

No, they want the latest software but they just don't want to spend money on new hardware. Also, if you're running an older computer Firefox performs much better.

If the numbers were narrowed down to Vista and 7 I imagine IE9 is ahead. And as I mentioned, I don't believe IE9 is in Windows Update yet.

WIn7 can do even with PC's that have 1GB ram... any older is legacy.

Well if you only have a 1GB of ram the OS will use it up quickly. Windows Vista and 7 are almost unusable on a Pentium 4 and anything older.Modern single core processors can run Windows 7 okay, but I wouldn't recommend running Vista and 7 on anything less than a Dual Core and 2GB of RAM.

I run Win7 on said PC... Pentium 4 Prescott, 2.8ghz, 1GB ram... it doesn't perform as well as on my quad core laptop, but it's still good.

Play around with settings if it's slow. And I wouldn't recommend vista... on anything. It's similar to win7, but it's resource ineffective.

Even if I play with the settings for a slight speed boost, it's still gonna run significantly worse than just using XP.

Windows 7 uses like quadruple the resources of XP and it offers nothing significant versus XP for the average PC user.

In my experience, it's exceedingly more stable than XP.

But hey, as long as you're not running Vista or anything older than XP, you're good to go ;)

I think Vista's fine as long as you're running it on a computer intended for Vista and has 2GB of RAM and a dual core. Upgrading an old machine to Vista is just awful, which is what a lot of people did.

Most people can't even make a valid argument on why Vista sucks, but still complain. I've had no gripes with it personally other than it being a resource hog compared to XP.

Excessive resource usage is what it is. Compare it to its close sis, win7, and the difference becomes apparent. Even Microsoft acknowledged that when offering people free (or half price?) upgrades from certain version of vista to others for win7.

depends on when u started using it, when it first came out it was just disasterous. Vista sp2 is as good as windows 7.

Whilst I don't use IE, I simply stopped caring about which browser I used years ago.

I've been hanging back on FF4 because i don't like the visual layout of it. A little poking around found a Plugin that'll make it look just like FF3, so now it's just laziness

Haven't even bothered with IE in a while, except for some job application websites that take no other
