Obviously its because Firefox is XP compatible and I don't believe IE9 in Windows Update yet.

Yea, FF4 is compatible with more OSs than IE9.  The article clearly states this. IE is still the most widely used browser, but other browsers are gaining ground.

No, they want the latest software but they just don't want to spend money on new hardware. Also, if you're running an older computer Firefox performs much better.

If the numbers were narrowed down to Vista and 7 I imagine IE9 is ahead. And as I mentioned, I don't believe IE9 is in Windows Update yet.

WIn7 can do even with PC's that have 1GB ram... any older is legacy.



Personally I dislike both...YAY me! Chrome for life! :P

Or until a faster alternative is offered.....

I'd already have switched to 7 if it supported some software I absolutely need right now. Luckily I won't need that stupid piece of software for much longer but there's still reasons to keep using XP - and the least reason is certainly not that XP is a fairly decent OS even today. Also, switching over to 7 isn't necessarily free... In fact, $100 is hardly cheap or even affordable for an OS.
