Ok, so the big 3's fiscal year ends next week and financial reports for all 3 will be released mid-late April. I was just wondering what people think the gap between the 360 and PS3 will end up being, as shown in these reports. This will mean SHIPPED numbers for both. The shipped gap at the end of Q3 was 2.88 mil. Also, to help predict this I'm going to look at VGC's SOLD numbers so far this year.
360: Looking at the chart, 360 has 2.3 mil units sold so far. Or 2,250,997 to be specific.
PS3: According to VG, PS3 has sold 2.5 mil units so far. Or, to be more specific, 2,531,364.
So, that's a difference of 280,367. PS3 outsold the 360 last week by 27,365. Now for the next 2 weeks in March, just for argument's sake, let's assume that the PS3 will outsell the 360 by 26K. That brings the new YTD gap to 332,367. Ok, now subtract that from the shipped gap and we get 2.55 mil. Of course, there is a larger difference in shipped, as Sony ships to a few more regions in EMEAA and is in higher demand in Japan. So, I'm thinking the new gap is going to be closer 2-2.3 mil.
Sound about right? Or am I off? Is there an outside chance that VGC may have the PS3 undertracked and the new shipped gap is less than 2 mil already?
Oh, and try to be civil.
