I am starting to have second thoughts about buying one tomorrow...
I have a 3DS pre-ordered at Gamestop, but I have been looking at the release games and its hard to pick any of them, they just don't seem to be my flavor. I guess I will get Super Monkey Ball 3D???
And, I went to Bestbuy to try a demo unit. The system loaded up Pilotwings and I turned on the 3D; my reflex was to turn my head away because my eyes did not like it at all (the image seemed to bow inward and blur) which is strange, because I have watched the 3D TVs at Bestbuy and they didn't have any such effect (maybe it was a defective 3DS demo unit? I dunno).
Anyway, I still would like to have some of the upcoming exclusive games for the 3DS, but I hope there is a way to permanently disable the 3D effect.
Also, is there any higher capacity battery options for the 3DS? I have heard it is quite a bit shorter than the PSP Slim's battery life with the stock battery included in the 3DS.
P.S. Who was the oh so wise designer that put the power button DIRECTLY where your hand rests when using the stylus?

The battery can last up to 8 hours, even 9, if you have everything off.
The on/off switch is no real issue anyway, I've never hit it, and at any rate, you have to hold it down before it turns off, a wise feature...
Now your main gripe, the actual 3D. My advice would be to go in and ask for another unit, and ask if you can sit down for a while to get used to it. They should let you, after all, they want to make money, don't they? If you still can't see the 3D, then that's a shame. But you have to realise that the console isn't all about the 3D, it's about the pre-installed apps and the games as well (I'd definitely reccomend, say, Ridge Racer or Street Figther), and there's plenty in the pipeline to enjoy as well! This goes to anyone who's unsure about the 3DS, such as you and Rainbird- don't just judge the 3DS as a flat, 3-dimensional gimmick, but as a platform with limitless potential, and the biggesy evolution in gaming for years. And I'm sure you'll love it for years to come as well...
(Also, the first update came today, 3D video. Looks like a clipshow of programs from Nat. Geo Wild or something like that, but it really shows off the 3D effect, and it's nice to watch as well!)
At the end of the day, it really comes down to your personal preference, but whatever you do, don't write off the 3DS yet. Do so at your peril
EDIT**
It's quite easy to permanantly disable the 3D, just turn the slider down to full. Then it's just a super-awesome DS with better graphics, awesome release schedule, better controls and other nifty extras (3D cam, Music recorder, Internet etc.)
