Forums - Sony - Final Fantasy Versus exclusivity ... does it matter anymore ?

to most people: no

to the fanboys: yes

Not really. When it comes to a jRPG of this visual quality, multi disc becomes a issue. If the developer cares about people not having to swap disc each time they explore different areas, they will have to either arrange the story so you cant backtrack or limit the size of the world, side quest and cutscene.

I like consoles to have exclusive games because that is what defines a console and makes it so great.

I'm sure if anybody were to talk about the great games a console has you'd start off by naming the exclusives right? and then end off with like saying something like "and of course it has the good multiplat games such as...."

I'd like to know if anybody that thinks about a console's games thinks about their exclusive games or multiplat games first right off the top of their head.  Cause i'm positive majority will think about their exclusives.

No... it doesn't matter a lot imo, I'll  buy it on PS3.

I loved final fantasy XIII.  the way it was.  not perfect (No Game is maybe this had more faults idc)
But the things that bugged me was not enough to do during quests. And barebones quests with not enough dialogue etc. Where the reskins on pulse (the battles were fun as hell for me) and lack it had cool locations just... they didn't talk about it. Not enough umph

And I think there should have been more branching paths or city buildings (like dead space)

But I'm not sure how much of that has to do with them running out of time than disk space... the xbox 360 used only 3 (I believe) FF8,FF9 used 4 discs just fine.

I mean the ps3 will probably look better with uncompressed fmv's, and maybe better if exclusive. But I mean I played the xbox a little and I still would have loved that version.

I know this is gonna sound fanboyish(maybe even a flamebait) but I think if FFXIII was exclusice to the PS3 we would be playing FFXIII-2 at the moment if you know what I mean...I hope that FFXIIIVS stays exclusive, not just because i'm a sony fan but I would relly love to see whar S-E can do with the PS3, each past generation(PS1&PS2) they always blew me away (both visually and gamewise)with some of the games(Parasite eve,FFVIII,KH,FFXII to name a few)

No peopew ho just wanna enjoya good game shouldnt care. i dont care if it has 5 discs for the 360 let them enjoy it if square decides to bring it out. 360 owners didnt seem to mind that ff13 was multi disc they just enjoyed a good game (lol i bought the 360 version). squareenix can push the game fine being multi-plat.

Surely, yes. Only exclusives truly push their respective systems to the max, and that is what I wanna see.

Kinda matters to me. I would buy it new if it goes to 360 however I would just rent it if it was PS3 exclusive.

I'm trying to understand the logic behind that... O_o

Dude places more importance on getting all the achievements rather than just breezing through the game since he doesn't want trophies... that's my take!

Of course it matters... every exclusive matters...

Final Fantasy is a HUGE seller, Why should it not matter?? really.,..

yes, it matters, not because Sony fans would have another exclusive to shove in the others face. its about quality of the game. If they start to make a 360 version, then the game might start to suffer, i want them to make the best possible game with no compromise. Now if they get done on the PS3 and then want to port it to 360. Fine. multi-disc and all
