Forums - Sales - WW up march 12th 2011.

I think the 360 and PS3 will have peak Years this Year but the lifts wont be enough to push against the Wii, DS and PSP drops.

kowenicki is right. The gen has peaked on a YoY basis, but that doesn't mean that specific consoles have all peaked. 360 will 100% be up YoY and the PS3 should be too, depending on if Sony cut.

Shame you cant do the REACH one... its storming ahead now.

I found Week 26... but Week 27 I found just Americas numbers (22,412).

And GT5 not seems correct... it sales are made by adjustments here.

Wow that means Halo 3 dropped quite a lot for week 27...I wonder if Halo Reach will follow suit or continue to sell better then Halo 3 did.

That's just Americas.

I know but if you add in EMEAA it probably sold like 30k that week and that would mean about a 10k drop from the previous week.

Wow that is an almost line of best fit for 3DS fall. Shortages perhaps?

Yeah, he's been spot on I 'd say. The Wii probably won't be as high as it was and (even though I think this may be the PS3 and 360's best year), the yearly total won't top previous years (2008/2009/2010).

360 is doing good this year and will continue to do so. Kinect will keep pushing the 360, the funny thing is because of all the cool Kinect mods it is being featured in mainstream media and news site a lot.

The PS3 will also smash it this year, even without a price cut I believe.

It's still impressive that despite the constant decline Wii still has the highest chance of winding up to be the best selling console of 2011. That is some amazing growth and vast audience.

It's funny how so many people can't accept Japan isn't buying 200k 3DSes each week.

That's perfectly normal drop for core stuff in that market (except quake cut sales by about 20% short for all machines).

PROUD MEMBER OF THE PSP RPG FAN CLUB

well....

I spoke too soon....

As I said earlier, I thought Japan sales would plummet after what happened there,

but....

Media Create sales are out and the PS3 sold 26k hardware

huh??

Apparently, it was only a small portion of Japan that was directly affected by the Earthquake/Tsunami

so....

now I revise my predictions

instead of the 360 tying or slightly outselling the PS3 in WW weekly hardware sales, I see the PS3 beating the 360 in weekly WW hardware for the near future.....

If MS didn't have Kinect, it would be even worse for MS....

And I don't see Sony cutting the price of the PS3 in the near future.

Why should Sony cut the price when they've outsold the 360 in weekly WW hardware every week this year, except for one week....

unless MS cuts the price of the 360 first, otherwise no price cut....

I could see Sony being tempted to price cut a bit, particularly if they thought it would spur further growth in US.  Or as you say MS might price cut to try and break the deadlock, which would probably force a response from Sony.

The Wii really looks like it needs something though.  I mean, relative only to it's early sales profile.  Even dropping as it is it's still well ahead LTD so far and not that far behind in weekly sales and it has the best holiday sales, so I guess Nintendo could let it run through to the holidays, but I feel they should try and slow the YOY drop a bit.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
