"PSP looks much better [graphically] than 3DS"

I beg to differ. Not only can the 3DS run MGS and RE at 60 FPS, but it's all in 3D, something the PSP can't do.

"3DS is for casuals; like the DS"

The flaw in the arguement is that the DS was casual. It had all sorts of games for all taste; hardcore, casual, and everything in between. Just because a company caters to casuals, doesn't mean they are abandoning the hardcore. Plus, look at MGS, RE, Mario Kart, Zelda OoT, ect.

"Pilotwings is a minigame"

But it's fun and can bring more entertainment then most games, and you can't deny that gaming is for entertainment.

"The 3DS line-up is almost completely made up of remakes"

"Almost completely?" There's Zelda, Star Fox, Rayman, and MGS. Four excellent games that desere 3D remakes. Four is not "almost completely" the lineup.

"Steel Diver is a tech demo, and a bad one at that"

It's a tech demo, but calling it bad at such an early stage is juvenile. What makes it a bad tech demo, anyway?

"3D is a gimmick, and will fail like 3DTV"

3DTV requires glasses, and is in the early stages. DVD players had slow sales at the start. So did cars. And computers. Soon the public will embrace it.

Also, your friends are asses.

"PSP looks much better [graphically] than 3DS"

Is that supposed to be PSP2 or what? I've only checked a few games on the 3DS, but subjectively the 3DS's screen and also graphics look superior to the PSP's offerings (not that it matters much to me. PSP and 3DS both have awesome graphics, better than I would ever have hoped for to have in portable machines) Of course PSP2 will look much better, but is it really that important?

"3DS is for casuals; like the DS"

... And the problem with that is? I'm a casual gamer since more than 25 years and have over 400 games for more than 20 systems on my shelves. But I'm OK that 15 year old guys who think gaming started in the middle of the 90s on the Playstation consider themselves hardcore and me a casual.

"Pilotwings is a minigame"

Pilotwings is a fun experience. If it's not your cup of tea, forget it and play something else. It's that easy. Some big action games can be beat in 4-6 hours. Can't they also be considered "mini" games in terms of length? It doesn't matter what type of game it is as long as you have fun with it.

"The 3DS line-up is almost completely made up of remakes"

Remakes are bound to happen on all consoles from now on. Just live with it and wait a few weeks, then original games will appear, too. If you don't like remakes, don't buy them. You may not believe it, but there are people who didn't play the original and might enjoy the remake. Yes, really, I didn't make that up...

"Steel Diver is a tech demo, and a bad one at that"

Does that sentence come from a person who played the finished game? No? Thought so. Point is moot. And I say it again, if you don't like it (or the genre), don't play it. Is that so hard to understand? (I for example won't buy it because it's just not my type of game, but I'm sure there will be people who love it.)

"3D is a gimmick, and will fail like 3DTV"

It's impossible to argue against prejudiced views like that. 3D isn't liked by everybody, but people who do like it won't start to hate it all of a sudden. I for example wasn't totally sold on the 3D feature, because my eyes can't see 3D very well it seems. I've tested 3D TVs in stores with the 3D glasses and hardly could make out the 3D. Another gripe was that the picture would get darker when you put the glasses on. With the 3DS the picture is always bright and looks really beautiful. And btw, the 3D can be turned off, so if you don't want to use it you don't have to. The games will work either way.

My life is like a battleground. By this, I mean there is always an ongoing war between owners of various consoles, and facts can suddenly seem confusing when everyone is questioning them. I've got a friendship-group that I'm trying to convince that the 3DS is awesome. The only problem is that I'm outnumbered around 3:1, and I have nothing to back up my points with. You know how hard it is to convince someone who doesn't want to listen, right? That's why I need your help. Below are a list of genuine quotations that I've had to defend myself against in the last week or so - relating both to the games and the sales potential of the 3DS. I've managed to hold my ground so far, but it's getting more difficult by the minute. How can I respond to these statements?

"PSP looks much better [graphically] than 3DS"

Empiracally false.

"3DS is for casuals; like the DS"

Lineup. Check it.

"Pilotwings is a minigame"

Options give game depth

"The 3DS line-up is almost completely made up of remakes"

Wait a year, could be a valid argument then if conditions haven't changed

"Steel Diver is a tech demo, and a bad one at that"

A: Opinions are like assholes, B: so-called "Tech Demos" drove Wii success over whatever console you happen to favor, so shove it.

"3D is a gimmick, and will fail like 3DTV"

Just like motion controls were a gimmick?

That's all I've got so far, but if I get hit by more, I'll report them here. Thanks for the assistance, comrades.

boom, roasted.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nintendo don't need a Defence Force, becuase the Sony Defence Force are noobs and trolls.

My advice: buy the system and the game you like and let them be. Maybe they can eventually change their minds after see you play the games and try it by themselves.

But i think it's unneccessary to convince them. Better they set their mind by themselves and if they got wrong. it's just a loss for them as them miss a good system with good games.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

You think that was bad, I saw someone talking on the phone to someone else, how he recieved a 360 for free, and how this isn't him betraying sony to his best buddy, and that if his buddy was so against it, he would sell it. I could tell, he wanted to get some 360 games as well.

Personally I don't get why consumers can enjoy products without peers having an issue.
