Just let it go Sony... The bigger the move, the stronger the backlash. Even if they bring down this hacker, more will spring in its place. Sony's trying to fight a Hydra and they can't possibly hope to win.

fuck it, america land of the free.
Land of bullshit corporate wank if you ask me.
I thought even Xen would look at this as a bad thing but no, here you are supporting a violation of people's privacy. Good work, keep it up :) |
With all the amount of trackers/tracking cookies you get while casually surfing the web, by launching your browser you enter a spy pool of stuff that tracks what you generally surf, what you prefer, and info is gathered rabidly. Sony getting these IP's is pretty much the same thing, but for some reason I don't really see people bitching about the former.
I see this as a good start to Sony winning the case. About the privacy issue, I don't really care. As if Sony taking IP's of people who visited hack related material compromises it.

They don't match.
A router, PC, and PS3 all have different addresses, at least mine do.
| Icyedge said: "...Hotz is accused of breaching the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other laws after he published an encryption key and software tools on his website..." So no it doesnt cause a bad precedent for people who wants to hack the stuff they legaly own. |

i doubt that, you would require 3 different modems 3 contracts with ISP's to get 3 different IP addresses. What you actually seeing is 1 public IP address which goes through to your router where D-NAT is applied sending packets to your PC or PS3 (which have there own private IP addresses). Afterall you need a good reason to get more then 1 public IP these days with IPv4 running out of address space.
