It'll almost certainly be shipped.  Sold numbers are always estimates and normally come later when the company can peg sales more closely based on retailer updates.

I'd estimate sold won't be too far behind the shipped as they've been making further shippments so it seems unlikely it's all sitting on shelves somewhere.

GT5 was always looking to sell a lot, the problem was the franchise was trending up in EMEAA and down in US/Japan and a lot of people/sites decided to take the downtrending to indicate a problem while ignoring the uptrend in other regions.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Then again, Japan has become handheld land more or less so a drop is not that surprising.

True, but that drop is a tad too precipitous.  Something else was up too.....

The trend toward handhelds is pretty nuts though.

Grasping at straws as I'd like to call it. It's not so much a shock that GT5 has done so well, rather it's the underestimating that makes them feel all the sweeter.

Let's be magnanimous, "shipped" and "meh Japan" are the last consolations before hitting the bottle. As soon as GT5 exceeds 9.5M, teh interwebz will start to pullulate with alcoholics, chewing crow and gulping cheap booze!    And let's consider ourselves lucky that through the wires we won't be able to smell their acrid barfs, with such a diet!

Indeed, seems like they don't like their Nissans anymore

the problem with japanese sales is PD didn't make all the Nissans premium and some how downloadable onto the PSP, i new it was a mistake for them not to wait for the NGP.

so shipped as of december 30, which would mean by the end of febuary it will have prob sold through that shipment. 

so its undertracked by 650-800k?  

Am i thinking this through right?

Actually I missed that.  I thought it was mainly down in Japan and a bit down in US.  I guess the people taking the US as gloomy are simply refusing to accept that it doesn't do huge numbers there it must be failing.   I've seen so much doom based on US I guess it influenced my own view a bit!

I guess it's like looking at Halo 3's EMEAA number (around 3. somthing million or so I believe) and declaring it a failure and ignoring the other 8 million in US.

Some titles - just like the consoles themselves - are highly regional in their sales.

But you know that :)
