Judging by the last page, I'm guessing that Malazan is a good book and I should probably give it a go.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I would say it's divisive. Those who like it, absolutely love it whilst some have difficultly getting into them. They're quite outlandish and each of the 10 book series is a door stopping tome. Good series and has some fantastic moments. The second book was fantastic and the way he weaves so many complex concepts and stories is impressive.

Yeah, Malazan is fantastic, but you need to understand something.
The first book is.... different. In a lot of ways.
To figure out if the series is for you, read the first fifteen pages of Deadhouse Gates - first fifteen of the paperback, anyway. If you like those fifteen pages, you're golden.

I started reading this book years ago, but I left 5 chapters unfinished. I decided to pick it back up, start it over, ad finish it this time.
A lovely story of a poor orphan girl who grows up, finds the love of her life, becomes a better person than those who pushed her around. It's intyeresting that Jane is an unpretty girl, who falls in love with an unpretty man, rather than her being a beautifull girl who falls in love with Appollo. She's also fairly independent, sometimes defiant, pretty weird considerign the time when the books was written.
I didn't like all the religious reffrences (the author sure was a devout Christian), but other than that a great book, with some nice characters, and a great plot.

"Last book I read was Brokeback Mountain, I just don't have the patience for them unless it's softcore porn."

So I'm currently reading some of the Raymond Feist books and geez his writting is kinda poor in his latests books....
Kinda sad how badly he is trying to milk his franchise...
I finished Flight of the Nighthawks and I am one third through Into a dark Realm now.
I will finish this trilogy but doubt I will pick up the next one...
On a side note I picked Calibre to organize my e-book collection and does that software rock !

Oh shit yes.
The only Kay books I've read are the Sarantine Mosaic and Tigana, and all of it was fantastic. Just top-of-the-line, Grade A, kick-you-in-the-nuts fantastic.
Post impressions as you go along.

Definately milked. I'm nearly up to date now with his books now. One thing I've noticed with his stuff is that the first book in a series (mini) is usually quite good. The new characters he introduces keep things interesting. Unfortunately, they seem to end relatively poorly.
Now reading Revolutionar Road by Richard Yates. The writing seems superb so far.
