Forums - Sales - Americas Pre-Order Chart (2011 2/12)

Also for the record Gears of War 3 pre-orders should be massive on the next week because everyone who buys Bulletstorm on opening week automatically gets a free pre-order towards Gears at Gamestop where I work.  If pre-orders don't see a significant rise then we know that Pre-orders are only based off of some kind of equation or something because its an automatic thing, all Xbox 360 Bulletstorms come with a Gears 3 pre-order.

That's stupid, and I doubt it's true.

1. Pre-ordering is free, I dunno who told you they charge.

2. Why would every Bulletstrom copy make an automatic Gears 3 preorder? Maybe some people wouldn't want to buy Gears 3, and how do they get your data anyway?

3. And what about people who never go online?

Isn't pre-ordering free normally? Why would they force you to pre-order it?

No pre-ordeing in stores isn't free at all.  Its always $5 to pre-order a regular version and $10 for a collectors.  This price comes off the final price of the game and by Bulletstorm giving you the free pre-order on Gears its basically giving you a $5 off coupon on Gears of War.

The automatic pre-order is in place because Epic and Gamestop wanted it to be and worked out a deal.  The pre-order can be canceled at any time if the person doesn't feel like picking Gears up.  Either way pre-orders should be huge for Gears next week or we know the numbers are off.

Ok, picture it this way:

-Me: Hi, I want a 360 Bullestorm copy.

-Person: Ok, give me your name, adress, and credit card info.

-Me: I'm in a hurry.

-Person: Sorry, you're forced to preorder.

-Me: I JUST WANT A COPY!!

Errrrmmm....

"Went to Gamestop the other day and they asked if I wanted to pre-order anything and I said I want to pre-order Gears 3 but not until I know when it's coming out. The guy said that if I pre-order Gears 3 between now and I think until Bulletstorm comes out, you get $5 off Bulletstorm.

Just a heads up for anyone interested."

The second link is contradictory of your statement.

Also, it says if you buy Bullestorm you get a discount, it never says it'll be preordered automatically.

Preorders will rise, but not by much.

This obviously only applies to people in our system, mostly those who are PowerUp Rewards members, which is about 75% of our client base, and the kind of people that show up on launch week for games.  Either way its cool and nothing to compain about, its a discount on a game and like I said at any time if someone doesn't want it all they have to do is cancel it or just not pick it up, its a free pre-order.

no its not contradictory at all.  The $5 is taken off of Bulletstorm and directly applied to the Gears 3 pre-order.  It clearly states on Gears 3 page and I quote

Bonus!

Purchase BulletStorm Epic Edition and Receive $5 off your pre-order of Gears of War 3. Offer valid from 2/22/11-3/6/11. Xbox 360 version only.

Online Customers: Add BulletStorm and Gears of War 3 to cart, discount will be applied automatically at checkout.
In-Store Customers: Discount will be applied at time of purchase.

It clearly says in store its automatically applied at time of purchase.

But you're only proving my point, if you add Bulletstorm and Gears 3 to cart, discount is applied, and Gears 3 is pre-ordered, if you only add Bulletorm, you only buy Bulletstorm.
I'm telling the Gears 3 pre-order is not forced, you get it if you want to.

In store its automatic.  Its not a theory, I work for the company, I worked the midnight launch of KZ3 and Bulletstorm, and I pre-ordered the crap out of the game for people.  We ask permission and CAN cancel it out of the transaction but its still auto added.  Regardless of what semantics you want to argue if Gears 3 pre-orders don't have a large scale lift next week numbers are wrong.  Stop trying to argue with me just to argue, our point is essentially the same with different wording.
