Is that bottom bar really needed?

It's only there when you log out guys. So now it makes sense.

And I like that the top bar moves with you, but when you enter the forum and the site goes to the post you were at last, it should land a bit higher above that post, so the bar doesn't cover it up.

I get the bottom bar on the front page and the top bar on all the pages.  This is horrible, do you guys just go out of your way to design features nobody want.  I'm using a 1080p screen and its terrible to look at.

I had it when I was logged out now not so much

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Woah, the top bar is static.

Personally I actually like the idea of having the navigation static, it's nice on long pages to be able to get to it (though as I use a laptop I tend to use the keyboard a lot compared to mouse users, so hitting home is simple enough)

However I think it would make more sense at the side of the page... and was wanting to implement something like it into my own site (not that I have really started making it properly yet) except I don't think horizontal is the way to go with static sections due to widescreen resolutions like my own lappie (1366 X 768).

The central content of the site seems to be about 975px wide, if the navigation could be put statically on the left of the window it won't bother those using 1024px screens, and keep it out of the way for short height screens.... those using less than a 1024px (well, 975px) wide screen are already screwed with a static setup as they can't reach the profile/login section without zooming out (not sure how feasible it would be to fix it so it (the static bar) will scroll in one direction only... it's possible but might mess it up aesthetically on larger more normal screens.

Oh and of course vertical space is not limited by the resolution of the screen alone, but also the taskbar and the browser menus themselves are best suited to being horizontal at the top and bottom of the screen, so my vertical resolution for the site itself is 570px while I have tabs open (Firefox... I have 2 toolbars, one has the browser navigation, url bar and file/edit menu... the other is for bookmarks... but I have large icons on (touchpad thing again)). With the static stuff at the top and bottom a new visitor to the site with my setup (maybe even wose if they have the default Firefox of 3 toolbars) has proabably not got much over 500px vertical window space.

Yes, much better now, it's another reason to register. Hope it isn't a Pro feature xD

@TWRoO: Similar setup to you, got my vertical taskbar and using Chrome instead of Firefox. But I agree, like I said in the OP,  they could have been better in the sides... though they need that space for ads.

The top bar is pretty annoying too. It really blocks a few lines of text when I use the PageUp/PageDown buttons, and I tend to use them a lot. If that issue is fixed, I don't have much of an issue with it... Though I think having it at the top of the whole design was enough. I certainly don't need it at the top of the screen at all times.

Anyway, the bottom bar was pretty annoying. It seriously limited my view and it looked like a mix of ads and a mostly unfunctional hotlink bar - that is, most of the 'links' didn't work anyway.
