PS3 will never make a penny back, even I have accepted this sad fact.

i heard Gamecube was sold at a $1 loss. im sure Wii made that up in 1 day lol.
PS3 has lost more being a machine that cost more then $800.00 to make for it first to yrs, being sold for about $200.00 less.
i'm not the tech guy but finance is my thing.

It's hard to tell which lost the most. Some figures are know but others will have been tucked away in various accounting tricks.
The Xbox and PS3 probably look the worst as the Xbox lost money and I guess you'd have to put the huge bill for R&D and getting into the console race at its feet and the PS3 looks pretty similar, with a huge chunk of R&D and selling for a big loss.
I'm not sure the 360 is out of the red yet either, as it also incurred a lot of losses initially before going profitable including the RROD $1 billion write off.
The 360 in the end I'm sure will be profitable, particularly if you attribute Live/XLBA sales to it. I think looking at current SW/HW sales the PS3 will likely be profitable in the end, too, if not massively so.
Profits wise I'd rather be Nintendo, let's put it like that.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
wasn't the 360 an total disaster for MS with all the warrenty claims for the first 2 years.
sony did lose an hell of alot of money on the PS3
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
Just like the PS2 helped land DVD players in many homes, the PS3 has been purchased by many as a quality Bluray player. That's why the early attach rate was so low for the PS3. But, over time those people have probably started buying software. That is where the money is made(unless your Nintendo- the Wii can't cost more than $50-$70 to make by now). I guess that Sony will really start to make up ground with so many AAA titles and the install base to support it. Even with Move only selling moderately, they will make a big step towards getting back to even during 2011. Doubt that they can make up $7B though, especially if they have to compete with M$ on console price.

That amounted to $ 1 billion, a one off payment. Like I already said above, since 360 launched, only $750 mill was lost. That's with unsuccessful products like Zune and Kin bringing profits down.
It's like 360 is or is nearly at, being a profitable venture for Microsoft.
sony lost billions with the ps3 but gain billions with blu-ray and the ps3 was a very important factor in that win so it's not as bad as it seams

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
