"which RTS are not." ... in consoles. PC actually has so many I don't think "massively exploited" isn't arguable.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Yeah, I thought that the point was obvious as well but I consistently forget that people lump consoles into their own magical gaming land and ignore PC unilaterally.

It definitely looks like crap, I would have assumed they were screenshots from a Wii game by looking at them. Then again I keep hearing how "beautiful" the game looks on PC and was surprised to see screens like this:

The game is still in beta so hopefully the graphics improve before it's released.  Oh and I'm not surprised someone basically copied this bashing/trolling thread from NeoGAF, I'm just surprised it was Bodhesatva.

I haven't tried it myself, but I understand the game doesn't look that impressive as far as graphics are concerned. It's taxing on horsepower, but mostly due to the sheer amount of stuff happening at once.

How on Earth a game like this is supposed to be played on a console, that's what I can't figure out.

This is the correct reason: number of units on screen at any given time can easily surpass 400 in my experience. While I assume the (eventual?) Crysis ports will be another example, we have our first instance of 360/PS3's inferior tech specs limiting their capacity for next-generation games.

Next time, let's have more than 512 MB of RAM please, because I've had 2 GB of DDR2 RAM for years now (and actually upgraded to 4 GB earlier this year).

So 512MB isn't enough for you but the Wii's 88MB is?  Since you're bashing the 360/PS3's "inferior tech" limiting "their capacity for next-generation games" I'm curious, tell us what you think of the Wii's tech.  Is the Wii's hardware limiting it's capacity for next-generation games?

You're actually right, I do feel bad about it, now that you say something. There is no question in my mind that I deliberately posted this to show that the Xbox360's tech inferior. I think I've made it clear on many occassions that how this topic irks me to no end.

I apologize.

Yes, they are all inferior tech. If the goal is to make the absolute best possible game, technically and graphically, then none of these systems are acceptable. They are all behind the times.

If you just want to make a fun game, though? The Xbox360 is a great place. It has lots of great games already, and their audience has proven savvy enough to keep buying great games.

You know, Legend, that I'm tired of people using "It has old tech" to explain away the Wii, when that precise argument can also be made to explain why companies should go PC instead of 360. We've done this before.

There's no question that I was motivated by such concerns when I made this thread, and I apologize for leaving that in the subtext. It's my fault entirely.

Look at the sales for UT3 or Crysis and then tell us again why companies should go cutting edge on the PC over consoles. How many PC games were in the top 10 last month? How many will be in the top 10 this month?

To be fair, Blizzard will likely make more profit than EA, Ubisoft, Square, and Konami combined this year. But generally, I agree, the financials aren't there for a variety of reasons.

But that's a whole different issue, Legend. I completely agree that putting games on the Xbox360 for financial reasons makes sense: the system has proved itself profitable. But that's not the same as putting games on the Xbox360 because it fullfills your artistic aspirations, which is really the pet peeve of mine that underlies this thread. Financial and artistic motivations are different.

The Xbox360 makes more financial sense, for sure. But this does mean that developers are sacrificing "artistic aspirations," if that term has any validity, for financial gain.

Legend, we can discuss this another time, I think, because I played unfair here and I don't want to fight. You were absolutely correct that I posted this to scratch a personal itch, and that isn't very kind of me. As I said, it's a serious pet peeve that has seen me go super saiyan / ballistic in a couple of threads before.

I apologize again. The whole PS3-and-360-are-art argument really, really bothers me, clearly. It's my fault for letting subtext get in the way.

You should go to the official website (www.supremecommander.com) if you want to see shot of the game running on a system capable of handling it.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I don't think you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
