Forums - General - After experiencing Blu Ray do you think you can ever go back to DVD?

I regularly go back to DVDs and frankly I don't see the difference. I only buy Blu-Rays if they are on sale and cost less than DVDs because I don't see the point of paying more for Blu-Ray.

Seen a fair share of BluRays at a friends house, we do a movie night every fortnight or so. I think so far I've seen, Wanted, Transformers 2, Kick Ass, How to Train your Dragon, that's the ones I remember off the top of my head :x. I honestly thought that the difference to me personally is negligible and if it does come to choosing between BluRay and DVD I'd choose DVD, unless they are the same price, in which case I'd go for BluRay, if I do ever get a Bluray player. I most likely will get a PS3, but I hear that nowadays there are better quality bluray players available, but a Blurays a bluray I guess :p

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I like Divx, Ill watch a film anyway i can get it, and im sure most people feel the same way.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Def. not. Its new technology, so old gen. players are incredibly slow when loading and fast fowarding, etc. Dvd players actually work efficently.

I watch Blu Rays on a 50 inch, still not incredibly fussed and will watch DVDs whenever.

meh, I don't care that much. On my 37" I can't even tell the difference once I'm on the couch, on my 46" blu-ray is definitely better. Netflix HD also looks much better than SD. Would I never buy a DVD again, no. I notice a difference but once the movie is more than a minute or two in, I forget about HD or SD and just get into the movie. Instead, to me a surround sound is what is extremely important for my movie experience.

At the local flea market, the Blu-Rays have always been cheaper than DVDs because there is so much less demand for the blu-ray version. I agree with the above poster that digital media is better than a disc anyway.

I always buy Blu-Ray unless it's DVD only.

yeah when i was buying my first 1080p tv i was like, hey yeah! i got a ps3...i can get a blu ray! so i picked out avatar and zooomg i was so amazed it looked so good it was so clear (Apparently avatar is like the best looking blu ray movie so i made a good choice for the first one id ever watch) i dont have much blu rays i got like 15

and yeah im never buying another dvd ever (unless its the only option derp)

I watch DVD's for now even though Blu Ray looks much better. I don't really buy movies I usually borrow them from the local library and they only have DVD's. Once I'm out of college I plan on starting a personal movie collection and by then I hope there isn't a new physical format yet because I like Blu Ray.

I can understand not caring much either way, but if you don't actually see a difference, you may want to get your eyes checked.
