Forums - Sales - So Vgchartz Pro has arrived...

The site has just got greedier, first of all by threatening to lock people who use pop up blocker because it's cauing them to lose revenue, despite being one of the worst sites I've ever used for virus's and malware and now excluding the very people that made this site what it is from some of the standard features that up until now have always been available.

I very much hope they crash and burn.

wow this site gives you viruses? and also crash and burn? your trippin.

Hmm. Brett is pretty busy preparing for DICE at the moment so this may just be his testing of new things. I'll speak to him soon enough. The idea had been to keep content overwhelmingly free and then to add more content for those who pay to compensate Brett for his labor and research. We had discussed tiers previously, some months ago including a very affordable tier for the employed but not sure what the plan is at the moment.

I hope TheSource is right and this is just a test because if you plan to reduce the weekly software charts to top 40 instead of top 200 for "non-Pro's" please don't do it two months before VGC Pro is even available.

While I no longer use it for mainly sales data, I'll wager at least 75% of the users of this website came here because of that.  For over a year, I didn't even have a profile here and came solely to see sales data and read sales articles along with an occasional game article.

Now I've changed to where I enjoy having the sales data available for reference but use forums a lot more.  So long as you continue giving me more sales data than other websites, I'm fine, though :P

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

This sucks... the whole reason I found this site and continue to come back is because of its sales. This is a site that used to pride itself on offering free video game sales to the masses, now its going to turn around and do the exact same thing it fought against all these years....

On a side note is it really ethical to charge people for sales data that was ammassed (even if only partailly) from sites that charge you to see sales data they collected?

No offense to VGChartz but the data isn't accurate enough to be worth my money. I'm here for the forums though so....

Ka-boom.

I understand that tracking all these games costs money, and in order to improve the reliability of the numbers and expand the site's features, an increase in revenue will be needed, but why are you locking away almost all useful pre-existing features behind this new fee?  Shouldn't you instead be enticing users to pay the fee by offering new features facilitated directly by the fee?  It feels rather dickish to me, tbh.  Instead of the site getting better, it's getting worse for non-subscribers while not changing much for subscribers.

And what the hell is up with barring access to said features months before Pro is even available?

Well if they added in the chartz, features and so on.

And added in that service thats cheaper for us forum goers not interested in profit/loss and so on

Then I would do this to the staff members:

You're going to kiss them without any sign of emotion or onscreen chemistry? SWEET!!

@ OP

I still have my HW Tables, so I'm good.    And hopefully, this will do away with any attempts to insert a bunch of ads on this site again.

Edit:  Also, that orange looks horrible in the main VGC page.  What ever possessed them to go with that color?

It'll be easier for more accurate competition to take over now..

personally I don't have a problem with weekly charts only being top 40 and not being able to filter them, but it seriously makes me wonder which feature will be cut next

btw I will never pay for the services of this site and it's news ,review and trailer sections are irrelevant to me
