I live in a desert. Highs top 105 F every year, often from late May to early Sept. Winter highs only fall below 50 usually during 3 weeks plus or minus the winter solstice - roughly Dec 3 to Jan 14. It does snow a couple inches every year, but avg highs in February are 53 early on and up to 57 by month end - lows are typically 25 to 30.

Today it is supposed to hit 13 for a high (40 degrees below average) with a low of -5. It is currently 2 degrees F with 40 MPH winds. Weather.com suggests it hasn't been this cold in February where I am since 1933 (another La Nina year I believe).

As recently as three days ago it was 45 or so at this time of night, and now its 2 degrees....

All in all, with the way deserts gain and lose heat its interesting seeing what a real arctic air mass can do.

hmm i guess thats where we shipped our cold air too, its been upper 50s to lower 60s here the last few days normaly this time of year we are in the 20s and 30s

God damn, Arizona was on my list of "places I want to live" as I was under the impression that it was always hot.

A few years ago we had wind chills in the range of -10F to -20F and the freaken university still wouldn't cancel class. That was the most agonizing half hour wait for that shuttle I've had to endure.

Still, I'd rather have cooler temperatures than your high of 105F! Then again, I could probably stand a dry summer's heat more than a humid one.
