As has been demonstrated many times on both the Nintendo DS and iPhone, you can emulate the functionality of an analogue stick with a touch screen fairly well.

No way dude "on screen" analogue sticks suck ass compared to real analogue sticks.

I do agree dual analogue sticks are clutch for the PSP2 but it isn't an automatic win or anything.

Why is this thread still open?

Also, fixed for accuracy

analog sticks wont mean a thing, just like the "circle pad".

Hahahaha this thread is hilarious, come on guys dual analogs are awesome, I do hope developers take the full advantage of those front and rear touch pads on the NGP and create new IPs and experiences but dual analogs are really helpfull in third and first person games.

Yes, some people are seriously defending the use of a stylus over a second analog stick.

Is it just me, or am I the only one who has a problem with using a stylus in my right hand while simultaneously pressing right side face and shoulder buttons? I know; it's just me.

Games use one or the other, rarely both because there is no rapid switching between the two.

Either I'm the only one who's noticed this, or I'm the only one pointing it out.

Of course, everyone should probably just stop kidding themselves and admit this whole "issue" wouldn't even be a point of debate had Nintendo simply added a second analog stick to the 3DS like many would have preferred. Better to have it and not use it than need it and not have it.

The "many would have preferred" you talk about seem to be only about the internet crowd, more buttons only confuse people.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Having a second screen, you can esily compensate the lack of the second analog stick, also you can have a great variety of "virtual" buttons, without interferring with the main screen.

The original DS was very limited in the 3D gaming department, but that was mostly due to the absolute lack of analog sticks and due to its limited horsepower.

So you're saying that a standard controller is too confusing for anyone who is not a part of this "internet crowd" you're referencing.

An extra nub doesn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out how to use. The average 5 year old child should know how to use one.

Honestly who needs dual analog with the touch screen. I liked MetroidPrime:Hunters use of both the D-Pad and touch screen to control your character. I think now that 3DS has an analog stick their is really no need for another one. Also I can't see how dual analogs the track pad and the touch screen of the NGP could all be used in a single game, it would be very difficult to use all three types of control in simultaneous gameplay!

I never use Dual Analogs in any game. Even during those PS days, I NEVER used EITHER ANALOGS (Except for Gt2 steering with analog). Oh and also in smash I've used the dual analog.

funny thing is....most people here who is dismissing dual-analog sticks.... were the same people who constantly made the point about how PSP is lacking one.

i have to admit, haters gonna hate, regardless what Sony does
