I expect it the announcement about NGP being compatible with 3D glasses to occur pre launch, yep.

Most likely a crow pie. The Nintendo 3DS will sell well and Nintendo will get a lot more publicity about their ability to put glass-less 3D on a hand-held device, while Sony and others are raping consumers' wallets for a 3D home entertainment experience.
Sony cannot "make believe"and hide their anger. This is why the denial and rationalizations are in printed media. They missed the wave, view the 3DS as changing expectations for a 3D experience, expect the expectations to hurt their 3D business, and when asked about it, they brush it off like a defense lawyer who knows he is going to lose a case.
Sony is disappointed. I have no question about that. How much the expectations will change regarding what someone should pay for a 3D home entertaiment experience in comparison with a $300 Nintendo 3DS with a glass-less 3D experience is yet to be determined.
I think after the 3DS, the arms race to replicate a glass-less 3DS experience on big screen televisions will amp up to absurd levels. Sony better have their finances straight because trying to beat out Toshiba, Panasonic and all other television makers alongside the other competition in their diverse array of products could really put them in dire straights.

I don't think anyone thinks Nintendo has never made a mistake. Launching the N64 with cartridges was a mistake because it alienated developers that made RPGs so Nintendo lost any shot at Squaresoft and Enix RPGs. The N64 cardtridges however did provide incredibly fast load times which were nice. Nintendo launched the Gamecube without a DVD drive, never truly supported their online system, and went with the C-Stick instead of a true second analog. Going back further we have the Virtual Boy fiasco, the whole breaking up with Sony deal, and letting the CD-i use Zelda deal. I will say that Nintendo's innovations have brought us more than Sony, Microsoft, and even my beloved Sega though. Controller Pads, 4 face buttons, shoulder buttons, rumble, analog sticks, triggers, and handheld gaming are all Nintendo innovations right? I think it's more we give Ninty the benefit of the doubt due to track record and nostalgia. I really doubt Ninty is wrong about 3D because they have been trying to implement glasses free 3D at least since the Gamecube. They have always found unique and fun ways to implement their system's features in their games, so yeah if they say it'll work I'll believe them. Why does that bother you? |
I know that most rational people would admit Nintendo made mistakes, but im sick and tired of some people pointing fingers at other game companies and say they are bad and how they are failing and how only Nintendo is a perfection in gaming, and everything they do is good, and everything they do wrong (or dont do) is not important and dumb. Really, my post was aimed at arrogant fandom, not others. ANd i have absolutely no problem with 3DS working, but im sick of people getting into ever NGP thread talking how about its gonna fail and get destroyed, poinitng its flaws and saying why 3DS is better because_______ even if the thread doesnt mention 3Ds at all.

besides i wouldn't call ps3's games in 3d a success either. i don't hear anybody ever talkinga botu some game in 3d. Who the hell is playing these games in 3D. what games are even available in 3D? |
Well, success or not, they were here before 3DS, and Sony used 3D before 3DS was even announced, so dont come up and say Sony didnt use 3D before on their games

are you going to AGAIN ignore the virtual boy.
That was in 3D. Was it the first? idk, but it was way before sony. Hell i don't even think sony was a video game company yet even, cause that was back in 1995

PS1 came out in Japan in 1994
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
Wow, this thread is beyond petty mudslinging.
It's a black eye on the face of what is usually an intelligent community.

I didn't know the ps1 had any 3d games, but reading again i'm guessing you are just stating when sony became a video game company

Virtual boy is irrelevant. The fact is, 3DS was used by Sony way before 3DS, so implying that Sony planned using and copying 3D because of 3DS's ''succses'' is ridicilous. Sony had it before §DS, so even if they do come out with portable 3D (which is highly unlikely) they wont be copying anyone.

These almost always become "I'm a Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft fan, so I must defend them regardless of fact or rational debate" type threads. Best to just move along and let people go nuts.
