Life for a 13 year old: Cruel & Unusual Punishment or Justice?

Well I think he should be put in Juvinille hall till he's an adult then be put in normal jail for the remainder of his sentance.

As for the legality. I think legally speaking the unborn baby should not count as murder. Many abortions happen pretty late in the pregnancy yet the US legal system does not consider them murder. I think that legally speaking the boy commited pre-meditated murder.

I think the fact that the boy planned this out and didn't do it out of anger. He thought this through which means he is obviously smart enough to be tried as an adult. However I think he should be treated as a child and not sent to an adult prison.

Not to mention he should be rehabilitated, and treated like a child until he reaches the age of an adult. The fact that he shows no remorse is also disturbing most children when they commit a crime are very sorry and remorseful, even if their remorse isn't sinceer sometimes.

I didn't say I wanted him on the streets. If proper procedure was not followed and/or the judge ruled on something inconsistent with THE ACTUAL LAW, he should get the chance to appeal the case.

Yes, but the verdict is still correct, regardless of the process. Also you do want him to walk the streets, considering you don't think he should be tried as an adult.

Do you insert words into peoples' mouths like this in real life or is this an internet-only thing you do to irritate the hell out of people online?

Sorry, I lost track of this topic a long time ago. I don't remember who said what and all that. Still, juvenile court is a joke. Whatever "punishment" he'll get if he's tried as a minor is more like a vacation.

You're distorting his point. He's saying he wants a fair justice system which you're incorrectly interpreting as he wants dangerous criminals walking the streets.

I must say I'm glad all the politicals I usually debate against agree with me on this one, wouldn't expect less of libertarians =P.

Yes, and in obtaining this "fair justice system", he wants dangerous criminals to get off, because the authorities made mistakes (which in no way changes the fact that those dangerous criminals, like this one, are guilty).

Good God. Arguing with you is like sticking your dick into a wood chipper. It may seem exhilerating at first but it quickly turns bloody and painful.

This analogy would be even more awsome/funny if you actually based it on personal experience.

(and FTR, even if he's tried as an adult, they will not send him to an adult prison 'till he turns 18)
