Forums - Nintendo - 3DS eStore will be ready on day one

Contrary to speculation, the 3DS's digital download store and internet browser will be up and running from launch, Nintendo has confirmed.

A Wired report earlier this week claimed that the new handheld's eStore would not be ready on the day of release and would be added in later via a firmware update.

However, a spokesperson for Nintendo told Eurogamer today that although neither an internet browser nor the eStore would be included in the console's "initial firmware" they will be "updated on day one".

The eStore is where you'll be able to download DSiWare titles, retro Game Boy classics, game demos, trailers and new digital titles made exclusively for the 3DS.

Nintendo hasn't confirmed a full line-up for the portable's Virtual Console equivalent, however, screenshots indicate that Super Mario Land and Zelda: Link's Awakening will both be available at some point.

The Nintendo 3DS launches across Europe on 25th March.

The amount of misinormation that people are happily gobbling up concerning the 3DS and its features is crazy. Stick this with the battery life, the friend codes, and the price as three things that conjured up a tonne of hate before the facts were even made clear.

the reason: immediately brick hacked systems.

Misinformation is fun. I mean how else can we "hate" nintendo.

I would have expected no less. The Wii Shop Channel was up and running day one (even if it ran slow as fuck that day, as i can remember)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm still fighting myself about getting first day or not...

Former something....

I've never seen so much butthurt and hate since Wii's launch. It can only be a good sign.

I've said the same thing about Wii Music so no, 3DS is still a big gamble.

I don't think people were butthurt with Wii Music.

Wii Music just didn't make sense as a game to most people.

You have short memory, they were butthurt because it was a big Nintendo product and Miyamoto was putting all of his promoting power behind it, plus there was no Zelda or Mario. It was some dark times I need to remind you of that.

That's great news, and the Internet Browser will be up and running too (hopefully it'll be an improvment over the DSi browser).

This has been a fun week as far as information goes. Now all that's left is the western launch games...
