not planning on buying one -- i'm apparently an apple fanboy on the handheld front.  i'm still piqued a bit by the psp2 but if it turns out to not double as a smartphone (phone, internet, gps, email, music, pictures, movies, texting, apps, ect.) i'll be upgrading to the next iphone as my next handheld.

i know you're trying to talk up all of the features, superchunck, but compared to iphone/android the 3DS is missing a lot of the key features i consider critical in a mobile device.

That is why I have a Android phone.

One device for mobile computing, communication, and occasional casual games. (granted with emulators I can play tons of old school games, but controls suck, unless I use my android to sync to a wiimote)

One device for pure gaming with added media and online support.

Personally, I will only use my phone. The game machine is 1/2 the price of a smart phone and requires no contracts or monthly fees, making it perfect for my 7 and 8 year olds. (or anyone who really wants games as the games on the portable consoles are just better overall than the phones)

yeah, parents don't think of buying their grade-school kids a CELL PHONE for gaming, they buy them portable systems like the 3DS which is easy to use and a LOT cheaper. The whole problem with thinking that smart phones are going to overtake the portable games market is that smart phones AREN'T MARKETED TOWARDS CHILDREN, they're meant for adults or high schoolers at the youngest

I really want an Aqua Blue 3DS but right now it's too expensive for me :(.  I'll probably save up the money to purchase one later on this year, if any are available.

No. If it's sold out at release, I can wait a few months.

I'm still more interested in the DS lineup and Feb-March bring me Dragon Quest VI, Radiant Historia, Okamiden. Enough DS games to play.

Yes blue 3DS with pilot wings resort for £254.98 off play.com.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

I will probably get one a little later down the road. Once Paper Mario/Zelda/Mario Kart is released, or when I get a job. I just have no business to run out and spend $250 plus right now when I have no funds coming in.. But if I do get a job by March, I might still get it at launch.

I am loving the sounds of all the features it has. In terms of the games, the lineup looks ridiculously good as well, but the launch games not so much. Pilot Wings is the only launch game I want. So for this reason as well, I'm in no hurry. Ideally I'd like to wait for a pricedrop but realistically I don't think I could wait that long. After all, even the original DS hasn't had a price drop in years, so I don't think we'd see one for 3DS anytime soon after launch, unless its sales somehow bomb out of the gate.

No. I'll wait awhile. $250 sounds steep especially considering I bought my DS Lite for about half that. I'm still going through DS games now anyway. Going to start digging into Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton soon, while awaiting Pokemon Black in March.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Just traded in my XL and pre-ordered the 3DS (although they told me I could pick a color later. O_o). Also, somewhat ironically, I also pre-ordered Okamiden. I'll just use my brother or sister's DSL.

Still... now the problem is how do I play Pokemon Black/White when it comes out? No doubt my brother and sister will be playing it as well. I'll have to be cunning. >_>

Just pre-ordered a Blue 3DS along with Prof. Layton. Japanese pre-orders just started today (Jan. 20th).
