When will X360 overtake the PS2 in the UK?

Try and be open minded for once Gilgamesh and look at the charts, it's pretty clear in the UK at least, PS2 didn't actually have fantastic legs, it dropped off relatively fast compared to WW sales. 360 is already showing stronger legs, at this point in time, PS2 was declining fast.


But in the last 5 years the PS2 sold 2 million in the UK, your expecting the X360 to double those sales in the same 5 years of the X360 life as the PS2s? Sure the X360 has been outperforming the PS2 for the last couple years but I don't see it holding up.

Don't be so pedantic, I didn't say it was market leader there, just that it was the dominant console of the time. I'm pretty sure consistantly outselling Wii over the last 6 months, over Dec, and now 2:1 makes it dominant.


I think it is possible but can you do one with wii, so I can see how far wii is from beating ps2 as well? 

Also i think somewhere between 2-3 is likely.

I don't know, this generation is a bit trickier with legs than any other generation.  The consoles all have firmware and have new features added to them on a routine basis.  I think that fact alone can stretch the legs out a lot longer than we have seen before, for all the consoles.  Then you also have kinect and move, which if have long term success, can stretch the legs even further.

In my opinion, it's definitely possible.  I can see the 360 outselling the ps2 in UK... if just barely.

OT: 360 is actually doing quite well, dont think it will drop off so suddenly it is selling quite well in UK, I also thought PS2 was higher, none the less, Scenario 3 is the most likely of them. 4 is a chance though if Kinect starts releasing consistent Killer apps.

It all depends on how long MS supports the 360. I can see the 360 having a very long life just for the online experience alone.

And since MS makes money from online gaming, that's a good reason to keep 360 alive.
