Forums - Gaming - IGN:- PS3 vs Xbox 360 Year in Review 2010

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/113/1138528p1.html

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/113/1138527p3.html

Now I know each console have their own editors but I thought Greg Miller (PS3) was too hard on the PS3 and Hillary Goldstein (360) not harsh enough on the 360.

Greg bemoaned at the lack of exclusives on the PS3 in the last half of 2010 and the dissapointment of GT5 while Hilary moaned about Medal of Honour (WTF) and XBL getting worse?!

I thought the complaints were misplaced. PS3 while not getting as many exclusives in the second half of the year could still rely on some fantastic third party games. Just because a game is exclusive doesn't mean it's any good, in fact some of the best games of 2010 were third party. Maybe Sony should've spaced out the exclusives better.

Now onto the 360.....no mention at the lack of exclusives? How could Hilary have overlooked this number one problem?! And when I mean exclusives I don't just mean console or timed exclusive or better versions of third party games. That is the number one issue for the 360 right now as far as being a hardcore gamer goes.

But judging by the two articles I think it's very telling at the current state the consoles find themselves in. 360 is heading in the Wii direction and doing it very well while the PS3 is going all out for the hardcore market in 2011. I think tactically Sony are doing well but stratigically I'm going to give my vote to MS. I'm just glad to own both consoles.

I found this utterly hilarious.

"And Kinect proved itself to have better games than PlayStation's Move."

They're both tools.

I think God of War 3 could have been moved to Q4 2010 to make up for the lack of exclusives at the end of 2010. I heard that Santa Monica didn't have enough time to add in all the stuff they wanted (i.e., they had to cut some levels/boss fights), so perhaps an extra 6 months development time could have given them the chance to add more content.

I know not the best idea to delay games but it's not like god of war 3 was desperately needed in March 2010 -- there were  other games both exclusive and 3rd party.

2010 was a great year but it could have been better.

I guess, they speak the truth. If you count, move excluisves, then they are right, but if you include move compatible games, I disagree. Then again, the dualshock is superior imo, so I would rather use that when given the choice, but then again again(?) if Kinect gave you the choice, most gamers would use it for a majority of genres.

Did you even read what you wrote?

Right because Move has Sports Champions and....uhhh....ok, I'm drawing a blank.

If Move comaptible games are included, it's no contest.

However, his point was that having the best quality between Move and Kinect games is like being the smartest kid with Down's Syndrome. (movie reference)

Tumble, Heavy Rain, The Fight, Resident Evil 5, Echochrome ii, The Shoot, Funky Lab Rat,  (I would add flight control HD but I get the feeling I'm the only one who loves this game)

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

The Fight?!? It got horrible reviews. 48 Metacritic

Heavy Rain - tacked on controls and you read stuff like "There's no two ways about it, Heavy Rain is better with a pad." in the reviews.  Move edition has a 72 on metacritic.

The Shoot - 60 metacritic

RE5 - Also tacked on controls.  Some say it's better with Move, others not.  However it wasn't developed for Move.  Production values are obviously much higher because it was a AAA budget traditional game first.

I've never heard of Funky Lab Rat.  Is that a PSN game? Low 70s score.

Tumble is also a PSN game and scored in the low 70s.

Echochrome is also a PSN game.  Looks a bit better, scores in the high 70s but certainly not up to the standards of something like Dance Central.

So these are all games that put Move above Kinect games?  I don't see it. Sorry.  It's certainly not "utterly hilarious" as Wagram suggested, but then he trolls Kinect every chance he gets.
