Okay but what does a pirate practically need?

A dongle? (what's that and how much does it cost, estimate?)

Empty blu-rays to burn games on?

Or just hardware space? (but how do they get the game from the internet to the PS3 in that case)

And no I don't plan to hack, I just want to get a picture of how cumbersome it is, and hopefully the process is still cumbersome.

With the latest existing hack...all you need is hard drive space. If you want to back up your own games, you need a bluray reader obviously.

And how do the games end up on the harddrive?

Err...can I answer this? Mods? Or am I gonna get banned again for posting something not allowed?

Yes, you risk that. I feel uncomfortable already.

I hope Sony keeps updating and making piracy and any hacks as difficult as possible.

It would be terrible to see cheats and hacks over PSN online matches, for example. They should keep working to keep PS3 as safe and hard to hack as possible.

I doubt you would get banned for that.  Either way, it's the same methods you tranfer any type of data to the PS3.  Though I would imagine converting the game to an Eboot (the file type the PS3 uses for apps/games) and patching it may still be cumbersome. Wouldn't really know though, as I don't pirate games.  At least not for the PS3.

P.S.: Winners Just Say No To Piracy.

FTP server I guess, external HDD, USB flash drive or by connecting the internal PS3 2,5" HDD to your PC.

Not sure if all these things work, but at least the last 3 methods shouldn't even need any kind of homebrew applications. (thus being legal I guess)

For the first method I'm not describing how it works or where you get it from (as I don't know it myself) :)

Good news, the perfect occasion to try games I wasnt going to purchase anyway. Ill still purchase the games im interested in on release day like I do with blu-rays and CDs. I dont think the gaming industry is loosing from all pirates.

Shows how full of shit the hackers are.  "Not for piracy we swear".

Fail0verflow and Geohot are keeping their words, they are releasing tools that don't have access to that part of the PS3, Geohot is working to offer Custom Homebrew access and fail0verflow are working on dual access to GameOS and Linux via AsbestOS on all PS3s...

The Castlevania hack, and the 3.55 with Backup manager support, and all the other releases that enable piracy are being done by other people that never made that promise, and since the PS3 front gates are wide open, a lot of people can do that...

So sad... PS3 hackers should burn in hell.

Edit - I do not want players to cheat trophies.

Welcome to the sewer of the internet--- this kind of stuff breeds such an entitlement complex.  I

Teh, atleast pirated PS3 games will be exclusive to PS3 only. Pirated Wii games on the other hand can be played not only on the Wii but also on computers and soon PS3 and 360 as well. Now THAT's messy.

just to cheer up people there is a hacker working an a wii emulator that will have move support

to the poster I KNOW YOUR SOURCES

Since ALL my Wii stuff got stolen and I'm a student I might actually become a pirate for the first time to do this. I'm sorry, I love Nintendo, and I've spent TONS of money on them, but I HATE missing out on their gaming gems.

Can't Sony start filling dual layer BLU Rays with aload of uncompressed and useless data making each games download a whopping 50GBs in size. Is that possible because know one will want to download a 50 GB game and store a 50 GB game on there PS3
