Fallout system was like this. When you entered a certain area enemies there would scale around your level and it would stay locked that way. Some below your level, some above (so it wouldnt be too easy). But if it still was hard, all you had to do was leave, go to other areas, level up and come back. The enemies would still be in the same level as before. |
I missed Fallout 3, mostly at least. Seemed boring to me. But let's not get there. Was the scaling system really like that? Because that sounds like getting rid of half the problem but letting the other side completely intact. True, it does take away bandits in glass armor but on the other hand, it will be much less thrilling if you know for sure that every new area has something you can kill, or kill after a level or two. Close to your level anyway. Ah well, at least it's a step in the right direction.

http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1156392-got-the-magazine-iii/ I really hope they develop it further this time - much further. AI behaviour outside combat seemed extremely scripted in Oblivion, and in combat, it was extremely straigthforward. Both are horrible, I don't think I've seen worse AI in any game in years (well maybe I have but only in Oblivion did it stand out so badly). I really hope they put more effort into AI this time. |
you should read this http://www.bitmob.com/articles/dimming-the-radiant-ai-in-oblivion

So that means I can go back and 1-hit-assasinate puny civilians the the earlier towns I visit?
If so, it's all I ever asked from the new game (that and dragons)
I LOVE ICELAND!

does it have VATS?
Geez... Give us the old good system that Morrowind used, Bethesda. You could wander to an isolated island at level 1 and meet a Vampire 20 levels higher! If you managed to beat him, you'd get something worth the effort.
In Oblivion, the system was atrocious! "Exploring" Ayleid ruins for 20 minutes to find ~100 gold in a chest! And after 20 level or so, every frickin' badit wore Glass and Daedric Armor!!!
My themeforest portfolio:
Are those scans from the newest Game Informer mag? Cause my subscription expired a month ago!!! FUUUUUU-
Anyways, can't wait!!!

I read that they are going back to the leveling system of morrowind. Also does anyone know the lead platform is? I pray its not another console to pc port. Nothing against the consoles, but i really want my elder scrolls to be designed for mouse and keyboard and I want a game thats not designed for 5 year old console graphics. I want to be blown away with awesomeness!

I think so. In Fallout 3, after leveling up bit you could kill everybody in Megaton easily.

| marciosmg said: Apparently, level scaling will be like Fallout 3: "Since people are asking, wanted to briefly touch on level scaling. All our games have had some amount of randomness/levelling based on player level. Skyrim's is similar to Fallout 3's, not Oblivion's. Thats a Bethesda staffer posting on the official forum (http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1156332-is-level-scaling-backnoooooooooooo/page__st__40__p__16933097#entry16933097) So I guess its not so bad. I almost didnt see it in Fallout 3. |
I wouldn't exactly call killing super mutants with 10mm pistol at low level good level scaling.
I predict good graphics and shitty gameplay as in Oblivion and partially Fallout 3 (shitty gameplay since it wasn't good looking)
