There is no source that gives 100% accurate numbers for the figures vgchartz is reporting. Adjustments will have to be made based on announcements, npd, publisher reports, etc. I really don't see how they aren't transparent. He just adjusts the numbers. I don't see what else should be done. Having automatic emails notifying you of adjustments might be nice for a bit but after  a while it will just get annoying and really isn't nessessary.

I'm not talking about automatic emails, I'm talking about things like monthly articles at VGChartz where the adjustments are made public. At this moment there is no way of knowing what is being adjusted and why.

We may see more adjustments with the quartely shipments to come but I see VGChartz to be quite accurate.  I expect 85M Wii, 146M DS, 52M 360, 48M PS3 and 66M PSP.

All adjustments are public and transparent - you can see exactly what has been adjusted and by how much.

Adjustments are like feedback in a control system, you don't say it "cheats" because it has it.

But enough with serious analogies: I like adjustments, the uproar they stir amongst the uninformed makes even the best trolls look like amateurs!
