People have eaten more beef than people have eaten PC's. That's the beauty of data, it does matter even if it's insignificant.

It's the other way around. It doesn't matter if people have eaten significant more beef than people have eaten PC's. PC's are obv not used as food, the comparison is pointless.
And, imho, it does matter if DS outsold PS2 (was the best selling videogaming machine ever, up to now), even if DS outsold PS2 just barely, or insignificantly.

The comparison is pointless, but the data derived from it is important. It's common knowledge to us, but it is still knowledge. All data has a purpose and you simply can't deny that. Wether you find the data important is matter of opinion, but in the grand scheme of things, it has a purpose.

Let's forget the PC thing.
In the GRAND SHEME OF THINGS this has no purpose, imho
but if you find that data important, ok, you love data, all data, whatsoever.
OT: DS outselling the PS2 has a purpose for me as a videogamer.
Although this data didn't matter for everybody,
it's a milestone in videogaming history.
